Complete 180 from the offense this week. Everyone got to see a little glimpse of what Bir can do, he is really going to be special. Defense had a great game. The running backs looked godd as well. Lot's of speed for the colonels this year.

 

I'd also say that this was the worst officiating I have ever seen in a high school game. Timmerman was held on every play and it was called once. Those 3 PIs on LexCaths last scoring drive were a joke.

Big shocker to me. Actually watched the biggest part of this game on TV last night.

Great team victory --offense, defense and special teams. Maybe the Colonels should schedule more games for 10:00 pm kickoff. Congratulations on a great performance.

I almost led off my first post with the "the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" line. I debated between that and "Dewey wins!"

I didn't notice any bookend tackles. They didn't appear to be very big or physical. They certainly do not play NKY style football.

Didnt expect this one. I guess the Blue Colonels and Red Colonels were out for a week of redemption!

Alex Connelly ties team record with 3 TD catches. Just to put the 343 yards passing in prospective. Now realize that Gabe Gray had a 41 yard TD pass on the half back option, but the team record for passing in a game by one person is 354 by Josh Bleser. Bir was 16-20 for 302. I don't want to hear that it was a lot of screens. Who cares. He made the throws and ran the offense.

 

Couldn't be happier about the win...I was on a fishing trip over the weekend so I missed the excitement. I'd have to ask this though: Will Cov Cath remain reliant on screens? The screen play is a great tool if your opponent continues to bite on it or if you use it somewhat sparingly, but what happens if the defense covers it correctly? Teams like Highlands and St. X seem to show an impressive amount of discipline in shutting down the option and screen plays year to year. What will that do to Cov Cath's passing game?
