Cov Cath vs Lex Cath

Featured Replies

Lexcath wins in a rout. They cannot be stopped, the only way to even play close is to rack up 35+ on your side of the scoreboard. I don't think Covcath offense is up to the task. I'm personally looking foward to the possibility of a franklin co- lexcath rematch. that one would keep the scorekeeper busy!

Lex Cath won't win in a rout and Cov Cath won't need to score 35+ to win

Can anyone give me a general rundown on what LexCath's defense is like; I haven't seen them play yet and I haven't seen anything on here about it.

I'm skeptical of Lex Cath being able to play defense in the playoffs against good teams that can play defense. I think Cov Cath gets the win here in a close one.....28-21

Every time we have beaten them, we've scored more than 30, so maybe we do need to score that much. If cov cath's offense shows up to play, I think they'll win this.

Cov Cath's defense will control their offense and Cov Cath's offense will control the ball and put up points

I dont see how people say that Cov. Cath peaked to early.. they played one of the toughest schedules in the state.. 3 top ohio teams and last time i checked Highlands is the defending 3A state champs.. so to say they have peaked is a joke.. Cov. Cath defense will be to much for LCA to handle

24-10 CCH

Ummmm.... it is possible that they did peak to early, but that can be remedied. I don't know if they have or not (my guess is they haven't), I've only been able to watch them once this season. Teams playing tough scheduals sometimes do peak to early. Take the 99 Cov cath team, they beat Louisville St. X who was ranked nationally and they're season was downhill from there. And the Beechies are playing LCA if I'm not mistaken, and CCH is playing Lex Cath. Fritz I hope you're right.

I agree, however, unfortunately, CCH is playing LexCath and Justin Burke. ;)

If Burke has time to throw, and is able to set his feet in the pocket, CovCath (IMHO) is in trouble. If he is pressured and the Colonels are able to land a few solid pops, perhaps they can contain the explosive Knights.

Unless someone can convince me that CCH is going to be able to move the ball effectively, I can hope for a CovCath win, but certainly can't expect it.

I have seen both teams play and I think that they match up good upfront. But LexCath's skill positions will prove to be too much for CC. IMO the only chance for CC in this game is to put TONS of pressure on Burke and keep up offensively.

LC 38 CC 21

No truth to CSHS speculation about video exchange issues. The two coaches exchanged video straight up after the Cov Cath game and the Lex Cath staff went back to Lexington to go to work.

LC's staff needs to go to work. They need to prove to fans around the state that they can coach against traditional powers in big-time games and that they can win with the load of talent they seem to have in good supply. Their track record in this area is Reds-like.

I'd lean more towards NCC like when they play the Beechies :flame:

The coach is obviously a creative offensive coach. His O is fun to watch. However, there's more to the game and for some reason it never seems to get better at LC. Maybe they just don't draw big strong kids that want to do the grunt work. I don't know. However, for some reason, there's a problem that LC has never really solved.

Not many schools in KY put players at the D1 level like LC. Why can't they get over the hump?

I am looking forward to watching Burke play. Top-not qb and top-notch kid.

How good is the RB Israel(?)?

Israel is a quick and shifty back who runs very hard. He will prove to be a key in this matchup. Can catch the ball out of the backfield as well. (Note to CCH LB's watch for the draw it can be deadily and he runs it well.)
