Franklin County (10-1) at Highlands (8-3)

Now, HHS' staff will know exactly where that FC receiver came from!!!

Knowing where he came from and catching up with him are two entirely different stories.

I'll stick to my original prediction:

Franklin County 27

Highlands 20

What the posters are talking about is not only tradition, but experience; the players that were on the field, on the sidelines, in the locker room, and in practice last season all hve the experience of knowing what it takes to win the big game.

Plus with tradition comes expectations; we all know the higher the expectations, the greater the achievement; all of Ft. Thomas expects a State Title every year, and the players start shortly after the State Finals working to achieve that the next year. They put in MULTIPLE hours a day in spring practice, early summer practice, and once 3 a days start.

That is how the tradition of Highlands football will help them win Friday night.

Well said! If FC develops a winning tradition, you will understand what Wildcat is saying. Highlands' players play to full potential because that is what is expected, that is what is taught, that is what is coached. In most cases, the result is a win. They know what it takes and they are fully dedicated. This doesn't mean that Highlands will beat FC, but it does mean that for a team with less outstanding talent than in the past, they are winning, they are dedicated to giving everything to get to state. This is tradition, this is Highlands.

Should be a good game tomorrow night.

GO HIGHLANDS!

To all the FC fans. Have a safe trip to Fort Thomas. Good luck and may the best team win! I am sure it will be an exciting game based upon the strides your program has taken.

For those of you who'd think Highlands will be overlooking a Solid Franklin County team are sadly mistaken. Friday night is another game that Every Young boy in Ft Thomas dreams of playing in before the entire town. There's a reminder that Hangs in the locker room reminding them of the 16 Highlands teams who have won that ultimate prize. It is a feeling that's is unexplainable to the normal person. It's pride, it's dedication, it's respect that every person in that stadium will give when Highlands takes the field. I've been there and there is no feeling like the one when you walk down that hallway when all eyes are on you. Each and every Highlands player knows what is expected of them when running onto that field. Yes, that field!!!! the one that holds probably the most famed history than any other field in the State of Kentucky. Some say that Highlands players talk a big game and sometimes maybe seem a little overconfident. I say it's that young boy living his childhood dream. I've had people ask me what's it like to play for Highlands, what's it feel like. My reply to them, Wouldn't you like to know!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to Franklin County on Friday night and hope you have a safe trip. Go Birds!!!

You forgot to add that if they don't feel this way, they end up at NCC. :D

Great post Boom. I don't think we're overlooking them. If we get beat, and I feel pretty good about our chances (which has me nervous because I feel good), it won't because we overlooked anyone.

FC has a good team and I'm sure they will represent their school and community well and with class, win or lose.

I'm looking forward to a steady diet of draws and screens from them to try and slow down our pass rush. This will be a good cat and mouse game when they are on d and we are on o.

Sticky, be nice

Ah, come on!!!

Besides that, I agree with you and Boom. GO BIRDS!!! :thumb:

Techncially, you're saying you feel pretty good about your chances of getting beat. Knowing you, I'm guessing that's not what was intended. ;)

Technically you're right. Untechnically you're right.

And I meant it would be good c and m game when we are on d and they are on o. Trying to do to many things at the same time makes for sloppy posts.

BOOM great post. That sums up the main thing that so many Highlands faithful have been trying to point out all week. NO Tradition will not win the game for you, but it will give you the advantage to pull something from deep down inside when it is needed. Many of the faithful know of our tradition and what it means. Our tradition becomes our "12th Man" , from the off season dedication, to the day to day preparation for gameday, to the spirit we get from the cannon and last but not least to the Pride, excuse me the BLUEBIRD PRIDE in our progam. All this starts at a young age and carries on through generation after generation. Earlier in the year a post was asked of grandfathers, fathers and their sons now playing this year for the Birds. I think we have about a dozen or so. This is tradition. Go Birds.
