Does anyone know when the enrollment figures come out each year? I would assume not long after the beginning of the school year. If the 2010-11 figures came out by, say, the end of September, would this give schools ample opportunity to schedule, using the revised numbers, for the 2011 football season?

What I was just told. On the first day of school the number of students is what is used. On the first day of the second month, this is the number the state uses for the funds schools get.

If they did use the enrollment figures from 08/09, I think that would be a mistake. The only class that would still be at the school from those figures would be the freshman class. It wouldn't really be a representation of current size at all.

Does it matter? I mean, Dixie will continue to schedule the Birds every year. However, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Dixie is 1 and 1 in the last two meetings with Trinity.

Well, you're right... Dixie beat Trinity back in 2004. But, unless the KHSAA reverses itself, Dixie also (technically) beat Highlands back in 2004.

 

As for Dixie scheduling Highlands every year if the two schools are in different classes, I realize they have in the past (when Dixie was 4A and Highlands was 3A), but I do wonder how much longer that would continue if Dixie is no longer in Highlands' class/district. It seems that we may soon find out, if/when these changes go into effect.

Those districts are actually almost identical to the current ones. The numbering doesn't really matter to me, but all teams in district 6 now are in district 6 in my scenario, and so forth for each of those three districts. There would be very little upheaval for 1A.

I'm curious to see the current districts set side by side to your guess at what the districts will look like for 2011. Can you do that?

If Dragon Fire's alignment holds true, I would think Conner's coaching staff would be very pleased. They would be one of only two teams from NKY in class 5A.

My answer is that you allow a team to move up if they are geographically isolated in their true class. With money tighter than ever for schools and people, to me it only makes sense to allow a school to move up if it will result in shorter travel distance for district games. Schools and fans save money by reduced travel distances and gates should be better.

Wouldn't the number of "move-ups" from A to AA create the opportunity for the same number of the smallest AA schools to move down, according to the proposal, keeping that class at 32?

So Cooper would be 4A. I think that will change this year , getting new freshman classes in . Each year it seems to get bigger !
