What is the difference between almost beating a team and losing to them horribly? Outside of the warm fuzzies it gives you to think that you could have won the fact of the matter is that you still lost.

 

Don't be getting excited about beating Louisville teams until it is Trinity or St. X. As long as you look at beating Manual as a big victory you have a way to go.

 

 

As to passing on X, didn't SK lose much of their O-line to graduation? Without the beasts they had protecting the QB last year I am not sure they would be able to give X the same kind of scare next year.

Beating Louisville schools not named Trinity and St. Xavier really isn't a benchmark win for a program. And I'm not sure what the fascination is with the "almost" wins some NKY schools have. I read a lot of similar comments several years ago with Dixie and Trinity. Either you won or you lost.

 

I never hear Highlands, CovCath, or Beechwood fans pounding their chests about games they "almost" won. Heck, Boone County "almost" beat both Trinity and St. X a couple times and all Rebel fans left with was a feeling of disgust.

I think it was on the June 10th there was schools from Chicago, Michigan and alot of Ohio teams. 3rd out of 16 with several starters not even there for Simon Kenton.

I understand that but in 7 on 7 there is no offensive line. The QB has pressure on him. It is essentially backyard football with plays. Just because you do well in a 7 on 7 does not mean you are going to be an amazing team. You line has to block to be able to throw and run the ball. Especially if you plan on throwing passes that are longer than 6 yards. If you decide you're going to do three step drop passes, the defense's will accommodate to that and change the defense to stop the short stuff. It all starts in the trenches my friend.

SK will have struggles just like any other team. They will struggle without Simpson not matter what anyone says Sage Powell isn't the monster Miles is. Also i dont see the line the o-line being as good as last years which you can make a case for the best in the state. They will have a good season but not the one they had last year. Also just because you play two teams from Ohio does not mean you are automatically going to beat a team on this side of the river. Each teams plays a different style of football, sometimes it's hard to play a team that will spread you out then the next week that wil line up in a power I and run the ball down your throat. SK will still be good, but will not dominate without Simpson. He is a one of kind type of player and it will be difficult to fill his shoes.

The SK players will really be mad if Ryle would happen to knock off Highlands in one of their two scheduled games. Can you imagine the hype if that were to happen ? ( Just something to think about ) lol

They have more RB's than just Sage Powell. Austin Baldwin, Danny Wetter and Michael OHara have experince playing RB. Plus throw in Kennath Lockard 240 pound Fullback I think they will be ok.

I dont think you realize the plays Miles made out of nothing, no running back on your team will do what he did everyone knows that. Every team has a weak point and to think your team doesnt is foolish, we shall see when the season comes around. I just think SK will be good but not as good as last year, also as your saying they will be a "throwing" that is alot to ask of a new offensive line.
