I gotta tell ya, TB&G, that's true but only to a point. This guy is the all-time king of finger pointing thus far.

Most, maybe, but not all. Some of us didn't play the "Katrina was Bush's fault" blame game a few years ago.

Here is how this all plays out for 2012. The Republicans will say Obama oversaw everything, and it took forever to cap that oil spill-the worst in US history. The Democrats will say we need more regulation and the greed of the oil companies and the lack of oversight caused the issue. Same old arguments played out time and time again. As others have said the blame game is just sad.

I agree, but I think the Obama folks are saying this now, because they see it is a farce the way Bush was blamed for Katrina. Were mistakes made-without question, but not because Bush hated black folks. Obama is making errors too, and he knows it. Being in charge isn't that easy. My criticism of Obama on this situation is simply this. He wants to act like he is in charge and on top of everything, and then in the next breath wales on BP and says they will pay to the fullest extent. So basically portraying himself as the good guy and BP as the evil twin.

The spill is about one thing............corporate greed. BP rushed their drilling and ignored major warning signs that could have prevented this catastrophic event.

Even crazier is that we can put a man on the moon but when it comes to fighting a flood, the most advanced technology still involves shoveling sand into a sack and stacking it.

I do find it ironic that no one has indicated that the government's slow movement on this issue is a result of racism as they claimed with Bush and Katrina.

And in both cases, the scope was/is so great beyond what was comprehended beforehand that a slow/ineffective government response is not shocking.

So they let Gilligan try and put the new machinery in place and it punctures part of the pipe, causing two leaks.

 

In other island news, the Professor is using coconuts and tree gum to come up with an underwater glue. Mary Ann is baking a pie. Ginger is sweeping her hut with a palm branch waiting for the BP execs to drop in and visit. Thurston is planing on buying BP.

I can understand Katrina being a greater surprise, but surely there are people who run the worst case scenarios of the oil rig disaster all the time. How does no one not address this scenario.? As to fault, I lay alot more at the company that was cited prior to this event and never thought out this possibility ahead of time.

He tried using the same saw that they used when the typhoon washed the underground phone cables ashore for a brief time but to no avail.
