You think that they would worry about safe water, safe air, wetlands, even all of Beautiful Lake Cumberland, if they stood to make a profit? However, make no mistake, I did get your hidden meaning.

I think the "crime" in this situation is in the lack of a plan to rectify any situations that may arise, including this one. In truth, the current oil being released isn't the real crime, it's the consequence of the safety issues and short cuts exercised. So, when all is said and done, it comes down to the individuals or group of executives who made those decisions.

My inclination initially was exactly like your comment - accidents happen. However, as we keep hearing more about this situation, it sounds like BP broke so many rules and took so many risks that they should bear a large amount of blame for this spill.
