While I'll agree that there are some definate problems with either the School board and administration with giving the athletic programs the support it needs and this is nothing new at CCHS. To call Mr. Strong a joke is a little far IMO. This is the same man who from my understanding when he was at Ryle put himself between a shotgun and a room full of students being held hostage. His job is primarly the education and safety of kids. Let's keep that in perspective and prioritize correctly. Especially since we have no idea what motivated the move. Just my two cents I don't have a dog in the fight anyway.

Dan Sullivan was dumped in much the same manner after building a nice feeder program and having some success at Campbell County.

Reitz not so sure that wasn't his choice to get back down to Harrison County.

 

Code had done a nice job putting in a system and looked like the program was going in the right direction. He had upgraded the schedule to where it should have been with a school of that size.

 

If Campbell County had been in any other district in the 10th Region they are in the regional tournament pretty much every year. Not sure if that would have helped Code's cause as does not seem to be any justification for letting him go at this time so early in his career as the head basketball coach.

Basically, after talking to a lot of people in the know, it came down to Strong did not like Scott as a person or his style of play.

 

You would think with all the problems in the district, changing the varsity basketball coach due to a personality conflict would be at the bottom of the list. I think Mr. Strong needs to evaluate his priorities a little better.

From everything I have ever heard, Scott Code is a super human being, and from people I have spoken to in basketball circles he is widely respected as a very good basketball coach. This seems like a very bizarre decision by the Campbell County administration. I've always wondered why a school the size of CC doesn't fare better athletically on a consistent basis. Decisions like this make me wonder less.

Sullivan also wouldn't let his players play other sports which hurt other sports as well as the basketball players IMO

Do not making into a "recruiting" thing. The way I understand it was, there are a couple of kids on the team right now who chose Campbell County over a couple of other high schools to play for Coach Code. There are other schools Campbell County kids can go to.
