If you pinch hit for Leake and move Hernandez to 3rd you don't have to pinch run for him. Anyone can score from 3rd on a single and someone like Janish should be much better at getting a bunt down. Leake had already thrown more than his previous high in pitches for the year and Masset and Cordero were available. There was no reason for Leake to be out there for the 8th. I know that you defend any move that the Reds ever make but there was no excuse for Dusty's decisions today. He's very lucky Votto can rake.
May 10, 201016 yr I was at the game yesterday. Leake only threw 92 or 93 pitches according to the scoreboard. Leake can handle the bat but his bunt was not very good. Especially with a very slow Hernandez at second. I was impressed with Leake. He knows how to pitch. Speed was any where from 79-92. He deserved the win was glad he got it. I didn't say nothing to my buddy. I know he had a no hitter through the first five. Edited May 10, 201016 yr by Da champ spelling

May 10, 201016 yr Author I think at this point Reds fans would like to get 82 wins, end the consecutive season losing streak and possibly take a step towards the playoffs next year.

May 10, 201016 yr The only thing I've read is that the Reds are going to have a tough decision to make on Leake later in the year because he only pitched something like 162 innings last year. Dusty has been very good with Leake this year IMO. There might have been one start that might be questionable, and I think he let him go 114 or so pitches this game. I agree with Homer Bailey in that I believe pitch counts are overrated. When did pitchers start becoming such wimps? I don't ever remember pitch counts back in the 70's when most teams went with a 4 man rotation. When guys like Brandon Webb started making 8.5 million a year to not pitch at all. Not picking on Webb at all... but you gotta protect your investments with the inflation of prices today.

May 10, 201016 yr Somebody please tell me why we have to play Nix over Gomes. Gomes is the heart of this team and he showed it over the weekend with clutch hits, scored from second on a infield hit and and shows alot of enthusiasm especially when he about broke Hatcher hand after that big hit.:confused::confused::confused::confused:
