2 main hobbies.

College Football. Mainly USF. Mrs. S and I love to tailgate and attend road games. I spend a large portion of my vacations on football games now. We plan to attend all of USF's games this year as well as take in a UK game at Commonweath and see the Tulsa/Oklahoma State game in Stillwater.

Target shooting. Took this up several years ago, by accident. My son had been invited by my brother-in-law to come out to the range to do some shooting, thinking I wouldn't be interested, and I just happened tagged along. My son enjoyed it, but I fell in love with the sport and now will look for any excuse to go to the range. It's possibly the most relaxing thing I've ever done. I got my CWP and the whole nine yards. Collecting weapons is also becoming a past time I enjoy. The CWP comes in handy at gun shows, in that, you have a 3 day waiting period for all weapons purchased in the local counties, unless you have one.

3.Riding Motorcycle- I grew up racing Moto-cross

4.Plinking-Target shooting

5.Collecting more guns

6.Music-Playing old LP's etc.../ I used to work for a regional Rock band back in the day.

^ Freak Limited's are good bats. Still can't beat the ole trusty Freak 98' though.

I hit with a Freak 98 a few times. It seemed like a solid bat.

I still have the original Freak in my bag, I didn't expect the limited edition to be as hot as the original was even though Miken claimed it was made to the exact specifications the original was. I was wrong, the limited edition was hot right out of the wrapper. I love it so far. Not a bad price for a Miken bat either.

Miken is pretty much the only bat I swing for NSA play.

1. Basketball

2. Collecting guns

3. Model Rail Road/Trains

4. Fast cars

5. Fast women...........................

I love basketball, especially high school. Attend many games during the winter. Attended some AAU games last year and hope to attend more this summer. Hope to attend the Beachball Classic this year with our team.

Love gardening. I have LOTS of flowers, the most unusual one I have is Trillium.( found it in the woods). Grow a garden every year and can and freeze veggies and make salsa.

Love to design and decorate. Just redid our master bath and son's bathroom. I design them and my husband does most of the work, :D They are very unique, not your standard baths.

I also sew and design my own clothes and love to cook.

Miken makes good bats thats for sure. Tell you what though, can't sleep on Worth. I got a Resmondo Titan in my bag (blue one) that I used last year and after broke in was super hot. Hit pretty good out of the wrapper, but man after it got broke in was really smashing. Personally, I am not a power hitter so the bat I use isn't really important. But, I always hit shots on a line with it, and had teammates who put it over the fence regularly when they used it. It seen a lot of play and I think its probably only got a few more balls left in it, so I doubt I'll use it much this year in fear of busting it. That and a Freak 98' was pretty much all I used last season summer and fall.

This year I am debating on getting a Miken instead of a Worth, but I liked my Titan so much that I may be forced to get another Worth.

Worth makes some very solid bats. I've hit with a few mayhems that I liked they just didn't quite have enough pop in them for me to make a purchase. The Mayhem had an awesome sweet spot, it just didn't have the power I was looking for. I hit doubles and singles with it all weekend.

I cosider three things when buying a bat:

1) Break in time - I don't want a bat that I'm going to struggle with for a season or 2 until it's broke in.

2) Power - Chicks dig the long ball so I usually pay extra attention to distance reviews :D

3) Durability - I don't want to buy a bat that is only going to last 2 or 3 seasons.

Several Miken bats meet all the requirements I have. The bat I bought a couple weeks ago will be the 3rd Miken I've owned. I haven't been dissapointed in any of them.

If you're in the market for a new bat, I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight without reccomending the Miken Freak Limited Edition. It's made to the exact specifications the original Freak was made. I've hit with it twice and have noting but good things to say about it. It't pretty easy on the wallet for a top of the line stick also.

PM me if you want any additional info on it:thumb:

I quit playing softball when the bats got so hot they were dangerous. I was never a big home run hitter before the bats were so juiced. In an entire season, I would only hit about 4-5 over the fence for an entire season. Didn't play for a few years, then came back in WV to play in a few very competitive leagues. A teammate at the time bought a $300 juiced up bat. I used it 5 times and hit 3 HRs with it. After a few line drives hit so hard that I barely had time to react, I decided that I wouldn't do this anymore. I played a season or two when I moved back to KY in 1999, ... but I won't play anymore.

I've played short stop for pretty much every team (tournament or not) I've played on for the last two or three years and you are right about that, you see some shots. I've played third a couple of games in there and due to defensive purposes normally play about even with the bag. I know a lot of people who play third now play back because of the hot bats but the further you play back in the infield on third base the harder it is to make plays being all the crazy hops the ball takes from that angle. When even with the bag everything is pretty manageable although it comes off super hot sometimes. I tell you what though, I try not to get psyched out and usually stay pretty cool but I have had some screamers that have almost took my breath away. I'm talking some bang bangers, as soon as they leave the bat they're either in the glove, by you, or in you personally. :D

In a tournament last year this big hoss daddy ripped a liner at me at short. I've played short stop since tee ball so my reaction time has always been pretty good and I normally pick the ball up real good off the bat. But this one was one where all I had time to do was step to the right with my right foot and try and back hand it. It didn't get any higher than a couple feet off the ground the whole way and the way it was dropping I expected to catch in on a short hope with the back hand. Well where I had got my leg out to the right, my glove was positioned a little to the side anticipating the hop. Needless to say the ball didn't make it all the way to the ground and I ended up taking the liner right off the ball of my ankle. It was hit so hard that it rolled several feet away and I still had time to recover it and throw for the out. After the throw though I immediately felt like I was going to puke my brains out. I couldn't put any pressure on it at all and after the next out got to the dugout, took everything out of the cooler, took my cleat/sock off (yes cleat, unfortunately spikes are not allowed in most softball leagues) and threw my ankle in there. I toughed it out for the rest of the day, but I had a limp for about a week. Bad thing was I had to drive home, like an hour drive. You could see both sets of threads on the spot for a week and a half and it stayed colored for a month. Started out black and dark purple and eventually turned blue/purple/green. :D

I took a picture from my cell phone like the next day or something, if you guys are interested enough I'd post it or something. Playing baseball/softball my entire life I have took plenty of balls off various parts of the body (never the man regions) and by far that was the worst/most painful.

And MBWC41 you are right those Freak Limiteds are awesome bats. Apart from the 98' , a couple of the guys on my team had the Limited. It does hit great. Like said earlier though, where I am a smaller guy, seemed to me like the sweet spot was bigger on the 98', or that I hit it better/more consistently. I only go like 5'9'' 5'19'', 150-155lbs soaking wet. The guys on the team with power though were always mashing with the Limited.

In no particular order:

  • And my newest "hobby" is working on building a Kentucky Longrifle from scratch. No kits here, baby.

After seeing what others posted I guess I have other hobbies:

I usually play the outfield when I played, but often was called in to play the hot corner. Had some shots there that scared me to death. One game in the last season I played our 2 pitchers weren't able to make it, so I stepped in an pitched. I was trying to adjust and back up after I threw the pitch, but was having trouble with making it a regular motion. A guy hit one so hard that it was off my shin before I knew what happened. I was shocked that it didn't break my leg. He hit is so hard that it went off the inside of my left shin, shot straight over to the 3rd basemen who threw him out. Knocked me off my feet. My leg hurt for weeks, ... one of the nastiest bruises on my shin I have ever had. I never pitched again after finishing that game. That was also the last season I played. I do miss playing, but can't see going back again.
