I usually play the outfield when I played, but often was called in to play the hot corner. Had some shots there that scared me to death. One game in the last season I played our 2 pitchers weren't able to make it, so I stepped in an pitched. I was trying to adjust and back up after I threw the pitch, but was having trouble with making it a regular motion. A guy hit one so hard that it was off my shin before I knew what happened. I was shocked that it didn't break my leg. He hit is so hard that it went off the inside of my left shin, shot straight over to the 3rd basemen who threw him out. Knocked me off my feet. My leg hurt for weeks, ... one of the nastiest bruises on my shin I have ever had. I never pitched again after finishing that game. That was also the last season I played. I do miss playing, but can't see going back again.

I just got into playing 2 years ago, love it, but doubt if I play this year because I was the pitcher for our team.

In 2 years I have seen 3 guys get their orbital, nose, and cheek bones broke.

Nice blog. My hobbies are watching sports, golf, fishing and reading.

Outside of watching and playing sports, I enjoy coaching. I've coached baseball 6 of the last 10 years, and I've been coaching soccer since this past fall, both indoor and outdoor.

Another thing I enjoy is carpentry. My family and friends make fun of me, because I had a house built about 2 years ago, and I've already changed a bunch of things. If it weren't for 2 little ones, I would've built my own.

Yeah pitching is definitely not the preferred position. I have seen a couple major fights started because of "somebody opening the middle up".

The shot I took off the shin was intentional. The guy admitted it. Best part was he got thrown out. He was mad at me for 'short pitching' his team. He didn't want to believe that I wasn't a pitcher, just filling in, and sometimes my pitches just came up short. My contention was that they shouldn't have swung, but while it was an effective pitch, ... it was not intentional. I couldn't make the ball do what I wanted it to do.

There are some idiots out there that not only ruin the game, but make it dangerous. I see stuff all the time that just makes me shake my head, especially at tournaments. Way too many jacked up dudes who think they didn't get their fair shot in high school, or way too many guys taking out their life frustrations on the slow pitch diamond. :D

Nice blog dolamite! Some of my hobbies include working out, playing golf, watching college basketball, reading, photography, going to the movies, jet skiing and catching up with friends. I've got a friend from Australia that I haven't seen for 10 years that I'll be seeing soon.

When and if I get the time to I like to:

  • Play golf
  • Watch any level of baseball
  • Play as much softball as possible
  • Coaching baseball whenever possible
  • Playing frisbee golf as of late
