LH All-state boys' basketball team

Featured Replies

Oakdale, home of St. Thomas More Prep. I will take their five against your five anyday.

If your five can even stop the wings from scoring, you'll still have to defend the country's top soph 6'11 Andre' Drummond.

Their all very good players, but once you see what's outside of Kentucky it is an eye-opener.

Again...another PREP SCHOOL. There are lots of prep and catholic schools around the country with very talented teams and starting 5's that could likely compete with some small D1 schools right now.

I'm talking strictly public schools.

I agree it is a total joke! Timmy Knipp is first team all the way and should use his second team selection as fuel on the fire for next season. Hate to admit this but it seems the CJ is a little more in the know regarding mountain basketball than the LHL, or so it seems?

Who should Timmy replace on the first team?

You picked an all-star team of what YOU think is Kentucky's best players. We are saying there are existing teams that would demolish your all-star selections. And for the book, what's the difference between your top, a prep school, and say Scott County as an example of a public school team.

Getting back to the A-S selections, LHL's picks are way off the mark.

Dakota Euton for one:ylsuper:

So Vance Hall wins both 11th region player of the year votes, East/West All Star MVP, Kentucky/Ohio MVP, and scores almost 25 a night against a very tough schedule and the main media outlet in his area puts 3 other kids from the same region all from the same team on the first team ahead of him. I guess sometimes it is all about the name on the jersey. I also agree Knipp should be first team.

Actually, it's a coaches' vote ... I suspect the Herald-Leader simply tallies up the votes.

If you look at Knipp and Euton both are big guys with great range. Euton played against tough competition all year and had to share the ball. Knipp was able to be on a team where he was the man and shot as much as he wanted and played against much lesser competition. If Euton was at Elliott Co. he would probably average 25 or 30 ppg. Euton was a great rebounder as well and deserves credit for that. This is a tough team to pick. Its very hard not to put Chiles on the 1st team, though. And Jones on the 2nd team. Also, I'd like to have seen Hatfield on the 2nd team.

Who did Franklin County play this year? I remember them playing Shelby Co. But I also seem to think at one point it was odd that Franklin didn't have hardly any of the really good 11th region teams on the schedule. I felt like that probably hurt Hall. Hes a great player though.

Uh oh, not this premise again!

True. :thumb:

This is correct. This is a coaches voted team.

Why did the 3 boys from Scott not even show up for the Ky All Star try outs? That is ridiculous.

Prom, Webb of the SCHS Girls Team did not come either. Not sure why the directors would not excuse them to go but, it didnt happen.

Here is their schedule. FCHS won over 20 games last year. They did not play Scott County (due to weather), Lex. Cath. or PLD. Also, without Vance, the team would not have won 20 games...which is an understatement of course.

I didn't realize they played Bryan Station and Lafayette. Hall definitly carried them. Like I said, he was a great high school player and improved tremendously every year.
