Matt James Passes Away

Featured Replies

GT, I have heard James and Massa were great friends and Massa based his decision off James? Is that true? If so, I can't imagine what he is going through.

How could Massa base his decision off James when he committed to UC and ND first? They were great friends and BK used that to land James at both schools...

Alright, sorry. That is why I asked because I wasn't sure...

You basically have it backward. It goes even deeper, Kyle Rudolph a former Elder guy is in the network as well.

Yeah I had heard that he really was a big part in James, Massa, and Nichols. I know the Nichols family, and they obviously are crushed. I just thought I had heard that Massa and James wanted to go somewhere together, I just didn't know which.

We saw this on the news and couldn't believe it. It sounds like Matt James was a great young man. ND could of used a fine player like James. Thoughts and prayers. RIP!

There's a prom locally tonight. I've been told that many of the seniors are driving to Panama City directly from the prom.

Can we get some adults to step in and tell their kids its not happening? Come on, folks. Be a parent.

I heard about that, and the parents are well aware of the Matt James situation.

Heard the parents weren't staying in Panama City. I heard they dropped the kids off and were staying in Destin, Fl.

I'm all for the kids going if parents are going. My concern was them driving after the prom.

I'm not a big fan of them being on their own. Yes, they're all "good kids. " So was Matt James.

Sad story, I don't care how drunk or how beligerent this kid was...he is a kid and this is a tragedy, most of us have been out drank too much and done some stupid stuff that could have ended in tragedy......I hope the family and friends of this young man can recover and learn from this. As for these idiots who like to bad mouth someone who is gone....that is even more sad....get a life folks!

17 year olds SHOULD NOT, go to spring break alone.

This is a good column which I think is very well written and makes good points. There are many dangers out there for kids today. Not to second guess parents, but it is harder being a parent these days than when I was 17. It does not take away any the grief or pain, but it can help explain things.

You know there was a group that left Monday AM instead of Sunday Early AM so they could rest. Well, they had a bit of a mishap in Louisville on the way. Everyone is alright, but it could have been devistating. They were and are with parents, just driving in different cars. Or at least they were.

Point is, it doesn't really matter what day they left, anything can happen and at anytime. It's crazy how it seems to be more prevelent. Maybe it's just the media and technology that allows word to travel a lot quicker.
