April 1, 201016 yr With apparently only 4 players returning, 3 if a player transfers there seems to be a few nervous people in the state of KY. Is it me or doesn't it seem like this would help the recruiting of UK more than it hurts because it opens up a lot more PT among other things for incoming players? I could be wrong but I think it would have to help them in the long run. Miller and Liggins are the only 2 returning players that will actually see significant playing time next year so that shows 5 incoming players that would probably see a lot of minutes on the floor. That would have to be very appealing one would think.
April 1, 201016 yr I don't see Cal using all his scholarships in that scenario because I'm sure he will want to save several spots for the 2011 class, right? Just wondering aloud.

Not saying he'll use every single scholarship this season but he will need to fill out the roster to compete. Something like: Knight Leslie Miller Liggins Kanter Poole Harellson Hood Lamb? Selby? A walk-on, and probably a JUCO transfer I'd say.

This would be scary IMO because freshmen often struggle to adjust to the college game. There are not many Wall & Cousins out there. I am worried.

April 1, 201016 yr Author So you counting out T Jones ? I am not counting him out just figuring it's more like we get the others before we get him. But who knows he could join and replace one of the others I listed or something else.
April 1, 201016 yr I hope they dont end up picking up a Todd Svboda type player. Oh wait a minute, we have Cal as the head coach. No worries fans, he will fill out a lineup full of players, that is for sure.

This lineup sure wouldn't have the rebounding/inside strength of this year's team. I sure hope Orton decides to hang around.

One thing is certain, this team won't have the rotation of bigs they were blessed with this season. I can't wait to see how things work out, Cal did a bang up job in a very short time in '09, and this offseason should be exciting with all the exits.
April 1, 201016 yr The next 6 weeks or so are going to be VERY interesting in Lexington. While I think the "only 4 players returning" story has some legs, I'd also say it's just as much of a smoke screen as the all star game circuit kicked off in Columbus this week. The kids with UK on their list are together at these events for days at a time, and spend a ton of time together talking about their future. Should be a wild ride right up to and maybe beyond the last day of signing day for UK fans...
April 1, 201016 yr This just in... Tobacco is no longer Kentucky's number one export...its basketball players.

Should be a wild ride right up to and maybe beyond the last day of signing day for UK fans... Very true...but I don't like the chances of UK landing T. Jones and/or Lamb. Josh Smith has been recruiting them hard to come out to the west coast with him and wear blue and gold next year. If Selby, Knight, and Leslie join Kanter and Poole, both T. Jones and Lamb will be riding the pine and forced to play behind them. If they go to UCLA, they could have just as good of a shot at going far in the post season with T. Lamb, D. Lamb, J. Smith, and T. Jones. Being in L.A could give those guys more exposure which means higher draft status if they're trying to be one and done players. I could be completely wrong though...feel free to tell me if I am. Just what I'm thinking.

No worries fans, he will fill out a lineup full of players, that is for sure. Yeah, Pitino made a habit out of recruiting crummy players to UK, and producing lackluster results. What made you come up with that terrible example when the 3-4 years prior to the 2009-10 season were loaded with better choices of stiffs?
April 1, 201016 yr This just in... Tobacco is no longer Kentucky's number one export...its basketball players. Considering most Ky kids get homesick after a semester when going to an out-of-state school, since when is the Bluegrass State known for exporting ballplayers?
April 1, 201016 yr I'd also say it's just as much of a smoke screen ala Rick Pitino downplaying Ron Mercer's abilities so he could snatch him up in the 1997 draft. I hope it's a smoke screen, because if we lose all but 4, and the 4 left are Miller, Liggins, Hood, & Harrellson we're in some trouble next year no matter who we sign.
