They swept the Cardinals and Tom Caroll (sp) started one of the games.

Tom Carroll won that game against the Mets above, but he came in for Pat Darcy.

My dad told me he took me to Crosley, but I don't remember it.

 

I do remember going to Riverfront in either 1970 or 1971 during Bat Day. Back in the day when they actually gave you a real wooden baseball bat. I remember getting a "Pete Rose" signed bat and throwing an absolute fit that my friend got a "Lee May" autographed bat.

 

Man, I still remember some of those Reds giveaway days. They gave out some nice stuff - batting gloves, posters, real bats, souvenir (miniature) bats, hats, batting helmets, etc.......

Eric Davis was my favorite baseball player ever...still is.

 

He hit a solo and a two-run homer and the Reds lost 4-3 to the Braves when the Braves were still terrible. I think Browning and Glavine were the starters.

 

I did want the Reds to win, but I was excited to see ED hit two homers.

Collecting teams' batting helmets was a big deal in the 70s.

Mine was in '72 at Riverfront but my memory is nowhere near mathmagician. I remember Clemente playing, the Pirates winning (8-2 I think) and how green the field was and red the seats were. I also remember being bummed that the only autograph I recognized then on my autograph card was Clay Carroll. Mad it wasn't Johnny Bench. :lol:

 

My most memorable was being there for Johnny Bench night in '83. I scored the tickets for my older sister and her high school best friend from the 70's who had met because they both loved Johnny. I took a friend from college and it was a great night. Bench caught and hit one out. Perfect script. :thumb: (except the Astros won as I recall)

Mine has to be going to the old reds stadium getting like 5 autographs from people i cant remember then bentio santigo hitting a walk off grand slam. was pretty sweet. then griffrey snuped me an my friend for a autograph after the game. there was only the 2 of us in the parking lot an we were only 13. but all in all was pretty cool.

The Cards bashing them by 10 runs, worked out great as I am from WKY and it is Cardinal Country

Bench hit his HR off Mike Madden of the Astros, and Jeff Russell was the starting pitcher for the Reds that night. The All-Star game was in 1988. I was in the next to last row of the red seats down the right field line

My first game at Riverfront was against the Cubs. Sat in the blue seats down the 3rd base line about shortstop. Ferguson Jenkins pitched and hit the Cubs to victory. My buddy caught a Pete Rose foul ball. It was a liner my Dad tapped and it blistered the whole palm of his hand.

I've got about a dozen; many of them featuring various outdated logos and color schemes from the '80s and '70s, including the red BoSox helmet with the navy bill.
