March 29, 201016 yr Tubby defenders will never get it. The program was heading in the wrong direction and fans were losing interest. If you don't believe me look at the past two years. It had nothing to do with losing to IZZo or Wade. It had everything to do with recruiting Orbzut, Alleyne, Perry, Thomas, etc.

You forgot to mention Morris who was supposed to be a stud, Rondo, Crawford, Azubuke, Bradley, Prince, Bogans, Hayes, Daniels, etc, etc.
March 29, 201016 yr Everyone who follows a bad basketball team but lives in Kentucky now likes WVU. Kind of pathetic really, but you can't let it get to you. Since there are no UCLA fans (the only fans who can really say much of anything to UK fans) on here that I know of, it's kind of funny because deep down they know that their programs just don't hold a candle.......... Michigan State has been to 6 Final Fours now since Kenucky has. Their fans have plenty of room to talk.
March 29, 201016 yr Michigan State has been to 6 Final Fours now since Kenucky has. Their fans have plenty of room to talk. Its all about the Big Hardware though. How many times have they hoisted it up? That is what he meant in reference to no one but UCLA being able to talk.

Cal should certainly not be fired, or the the discussion of that point at this moment. As others have said, the leash will be shorter for him than some think. Ah expectations and resources combine for unusual conclusions at times.:sssh:

You forgot to mention Morris who was supposed to be a stud, Rondo, Crawford, Azubuke, Bradley, Prince, Bogans, Hayes, Daniels, etc, etc. So in 10 years he recruited 8 good players to go along with the Stockton, Carrier, Carter, Carruth. Surely your not going to try and defend the general direction of the program during the latter days of the Smith error.

Ah expectations and resources combine for unusual conclusions at times.:sssh: While I agree, someone posted it earlier, where would they go unless it would be Izzo. And Izzo would not bring in the recruits that UK fans think they are destined to always get. Cal could have a real hard time NEXT YEAR if he does not land anymore recruits and the 5 abandon ship.
March 29, 201016 yr I don't think that loading your team with 1 and done type recruits help the program at all. Sure they might be great players who are NBA caliber, but while they are freshman they still lack experience. Real good teams need more than 1 season to gel, and I'd rather have a team of more Patrick Pattersons or even lesser-knowns who are not going to jump ship right away who still have potential to grow and gain quality experience. Pile up this type of team and in no time you really have something. Also, I have to believe that Kentucky has a decent enough reputation to start luring some more pure shooters into the mix than just fast as lightening types who only really shine in transition. During the tourney I saw a boatload of no-names that could knock down their shots while not one player for the Cats showed any consistency at all in this department. Sure it's exciting to get a John Wall type player but what good is it if he's gone in a heartbeat? It's like thinking that you're rich on payday only to be broke before the end of the month. It's just not efficient for building a strong, experienced, talented lasting TEAM. You need some deep roots for that tree to grow strong and proud. That Cats have been trying to build their house with no foundation. A strong wind will come along and just blow it down. That's ultimately just bad short-sighted planning. And to heck with the fans that want it all now. If the Cats are trying to appease to them they're never going to be satisfied when they're building a team with no roots by trying to get fantastic one and done players. I'd be willing to wait for a couple of years for a really solid team and from then on keep replenishing by recruiting strong freshman with great potential who will stick around for awhile.
March 29, 201016 yr This thread is laughable imo. Nothing more than someone trying to get the ire of UK supporters. I love how all of the haters can speak for the fans of UK, very amusing. Cal is the best thing to happen to UK in a very long time. He gets an A+ from me. This program is in great shape with Cal at the helm. Once the current guys declare for the NBA, the recruiting spicket will begin to flow rapidly. Life is good in BBN.

March 29, 201016 yr  The fire coach Cal talk starts? This has to be the craziest statement I heard all year!!
March 30, 201016 yr This is getting good! I'd love to get into your mind to see how you came to that conclusion...
