If you have an open discussion with coaches of public schools, they will tell you the same opinion.
Not the one's that I can respect for their integrity and willingness to play the best competition possible.

Why should they? Their titles were won fairly and agains equal competition--both public and private.

You may have said it in an earlier post but how did Highlands vote? I never heard which side of the fence they were on.

1. I hope you agree that JCPS can't take students outside of Jefferson County, Just like shelby county cant take students from jefferson county. Then why should X or T be able to take students from where ever they want. That is not even.

Your own principal as said that Manual has students from Indiana.

2. Look at the falcilites, public schools cant put their money into football feilds or milti million weight rooms. Why because the state and Federal Gov's mandate where and how much, not to mention the JCPS.

3. Title IX.

This is wrong as well. The state and federal government do not mandate where money can be spent only that it must be equally distribited between boy's and girl's sports. As I said in another post there are now several public schools in Kentucky that have installed turf football fields. It passes Title IX because all teams that could use them do use them. Raise the funds for a state of the art weight room and unless it was restricted to boys only sports there is no title IX violation. As to tTitle IX in general, maybe if public school had spent a little bit of the time and effort they put into trying to get around Title IX actually into the girls programs the differences in public and private girls programs wouldn't be as severe. In the years that many public school administrators were trying to keep from spending money on girls sports the private school spent that money. Now that the public schools have "embraced" Title IX they want to immediately be on the same level as schools that mad a committment to girls sports from day one.

4. Number of coaches allowed to coach.

There is no limit to the number of cocahes any school can have, only limits set by schools systems as to how many piblic (read tax) dollars will pay.

5. Feeder System - Public youth can join any team, and eventhough the team may be named Butler or Doss does not mean they go to those schools, I know that Cathoilc grade schools dont have to go to Catholic high schools but we all know most do. You have to admit that gives them an edge. Plus I have been to catholic grade games and they will announce Coach Beaty or Coach Glaser will be visting the Booster culb or the school to talk about X or T. Coach Nichols or REdman (or any other high school coach in JCPS) cant go to one of the middle school and tell them how great Male is or How great Manual is. They cant go to the catholic schools and let the kids know about their school. Not to mention Coach Glaser Official postion at the school is Recruiting Coordinator.

Self imposed limitations.

I look it like if the NCAA said U of L we are going to put you in a national playoff, but you can only get players from Kentucky and your Bordering states, and you are going to play Penn St. who can get players from the whole nation. Who would win, Penn St. 9 out of 10 times. They dont because that have different Divisions. Each has certain limits. I would love for the private schools to say OK, We will stay within Jefferson County. They can take private and public school kids, but only from one county. I would be ok with that. But they wont. WHY, is it because they would not be able to compete with the public schools? or for some other reason? Again I truly believe if the private schools just stay in Jefferson their would not be a problem, but they will not do that. But every public has to.

Again, Manual takes kids from outside Jefferson County. You are wrong.

No problem with playing the best competition possible as long as everything is even? Would you want your school to be playing Oak Hill Academy all the time? Or I guess you are of the opinion that MMI with their new approach to athletics should be allowed into the KHSAA? That is the best competition in the state.

Oak Hill makes a lot of $$ for quite a few KY Public Schools per year...

Why should they? Their titles were won fairly and agains equal competition--both public and private.

Highlands did not beat the best competition available; against a ST. X or Trinity. If it is about playing the best, do away with classes in football and have a truly state football champion in football.

Not in this state anymore. Last year was the last year, a KHSAA school could play Oak HIll.

And quite a few athletic budgets will shrink because of it...

The privates obviously weren't too concerned with this happening when they were on their recruiting trips. The publics didn't admit to being inferior, they admitted what the privates won't, that the playing field isn't level.

O , do you have some information on privates recruiting. I'd love to hear then I will join your side.

The teams that are currently in the KHSAA are playing by the rules and therefore on an equal footing. Simple as that.
Did you read my post?

Just did. RM, I really respect you and your opinion. It's stinks that this proposal passed. I didn't like the proposal nor the reasoning for it. But again I have to state that by most of the post in this thread they, (private schools), feel that they are above public schools. Calling the public schools pansies doesn't help. You have a couple of posters that think by calling public schools, along with students as young as 9, pansies makes themselves feel better. I don't have any respect for them.

I guess the best thing to do is to just hope that the BOE or the regents will shoot this down. And all will be fine in the land of the pansies.

I think you should speak for yourself on that opinion...

Not all Public school coaches feel the same way you do about this.
