Where were they? Usually "Red Heat" is out in force but the crowds this week were small compared to the past.

I am not sure, my buddy Duker had this thought: '...Scott fans might have been fixing all the recalled Toyota's and unable to attend the games this week!'

A Scott County fan posted in another thread that the community wasn't going to come out and support the team because very little of the team is actually from Scott County. The poster went on to say that "if Billy Hicks doesn't win a title with this team....."

I don't know if they release actual attendence figures but just from my viewpoint it was some of the smallest crowds ever at the tourney unless you were in line for the ice cream cones.

I think that's a good point. Also, the big names seemed to be playing early in the day (Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon). With competition from the NCAA and not as many name-brand teams in the evenings, that had to hurt it some.

I've heard the same thing. Most students didn't come out because they don't really know this team and the term one fan used was "these weren't Scott County boys".

One guy behind me said after the 4th Scott Co kid fouled out in the Christian Co game, "They finally have to play one of the local kids."

Pretty funny.

I would have serious trouble believing that the makeup of Scott County's team didn't have anything to do with the low attendance. Scott used to be one of those schools that brought huge crowds, but this week's attendance was embarrassing.

^ I could understand why. Fans like to support their teams with kids from the area. And I guess these fans weren't happy because they didn't have "local kids" on the team.

As for the bolded, have to agree whoever posted that. Three Division I seniors is a good place to start if you're going to win state.

 

Also, it's very likely the fans and students didn't really know or have any connection with most of the key players on this team. I would think that would have been a factor.

How were the crowds at Scott Co's home games this year? Where they really down too?
