Ten years ago tonight, I was in ICU in critical condition with lung failure, kidney failure and congestive heart failure. It was the 19th straight admission in four years -- something like 285 inpatient days. This time though, I was completely unresponsive. In fact, before the night was over, the doctor told my parents to gather the family...to say their goodbyes. They said I wasn't going to be waking up.

Apparently God didn't get the message. He had other plans. Somehow, he pulled me through that night. Five days later, they put a tracheostomy tube in my throat to keep me breathing. By mid-April, I was released from the hospital, and never returned. I like to think that night was the first day of my second life. I really believe that. Not sure why I'm posting this, but it didn't seem right to let the day go by unmarked and unshared with friends. :thumb:
