A lot of people will get to see the freshman from Shelby Co., Hicks I believe? Also, I have heard a lot about Ballard as a team but haven't got to see them yet this year. I am anxious to see them and I am sure they have some nice athletes. They usually do:thumb:

...referee James Pouncey from the 9th. James is an excellent referee and a good guy. He is a current AAU youth coach and former Holmes player. James lets the players play and the coaches coach. He keeps control of the game but does not lose sight of the fact that the players (not the refs) are the main attraction.

Luther is a look a like for former UK player Tayshaun Prince. He is like 6-4 and built just like him. He also has serious hops and has had some highlight blocks this season. This is a team with no big stars and no eye-popping numbers but the most imporant thing is they play as a TEAM!

 

AMEN to that. :thumb: ...and confident, smart, poised, and fearless I might add.

Hicks is a great player for Shelby County and they have another player whose last name is Johnson(I think) that is just as good if not better than Hicks, but I think the Johnson kid is a senior.

I would love to hear from some of the teams that don't usually get a lot of BGP pub. Muhlenberg County, North Hardin, Butler come to mind.

No doubt then you will enjoy the entire starting cast and their 6th man. They are all capable of impressing. Keep your eyes on:

 

Foster, Luther, McDaniels, Collins, Sizemore, and Tucker. When they are all on as a unit they can be amazing. :thumb:

 

 

Going to be hard for Newport to run the table with only playing five or six men. EC couldn't do it, and while I will be rooting for Newport, I just don't think you can win a Sweet Sixteen Title any longer with just playing five or six players!

 

When you have to play four games in four day's on a college floor with all the pressure on you to win, or go home, it's hard. Just ask the EC fans and they had one heck of a team the last couple of years!

North is big and athletic. They will attack the glass relentlessly. But if James Berry has his shot working, NH becomes a lot better. Berry is a big guard who can shoot, and also attacks the boards. Also tough for the Trojans is Nigel Phelps, a big, rebounding guard. Both were regular double-double guys in the regionals.

Tate Cox and Stuart Stamper of Knott County Central are two of the better 3 point shooters in the state. They pretty much carry the scoring load for KCC.

 

BTW, I don't know if it is a record or not, but Coach Dave Fraley has now taken three different teams to the Sweet 16: Powell County, Pulaski County (Champions 1986), and Knott County Central.

Ballard wins by 20. Sorry, unless Hicks has gotten a lot stronger and became a better ballhandler and shooter since the KOB, he will not be giving Ballard any fits.
