Way to go boys. Some people thought you guys were done after that district championship game but your not done yet. Keep it going fellas you can do it.

Was speaking on behalf of the many no-shows. My kids are Ryle kids so I support our teams.

Not only did Newport win by this large margin. I thought almost every call went in Ryle's favor. Even some easy ones went the other way. Could have been worse.....

I had no dog in this fight at all. During the first half the officials were especially tough on the Wildcats. Coach Russell maintained his composure when he well could have gone ballastic. The loose ball foul when Foster was undercut and the foul went against Foster was horriffic! The only guy who didn't know that it was Foster fouled on that play was the official paid to make the correct call - he really missed it.

The no-call on the Luther attempted dunk was a no-brainer, where again the foul was called against Newport. Luther was nearly knocked vertical on that shot and came up empty.

Ryle did hit a momentum basket to end the half with Newport up one, but the Cats must have felt badly cheated.

Congratulations to them on knocking off the team many picked to upend Holmes. Newport was much the better team on this night. :thumb:

Congrats to Coach Russell and the Wildcats, what a big win for the players and the program in general. To see the boys play with such grace and to exploit their talents as they did, it was there excelent shooting, teamwork, jumping ability and there ability to keep their composure in pressure situations. It was great to see the fan and student following, this a reflection of school spirit and the great job that the Athletic Director Nick Rice has done. Great season for the Ryle Raiders and good luck to the Newport Wildcats!! You play like you did tonight, and you might just win the 9th Region

Did anyone catch the post-game attire of the Luther kid?

He had a t-shirt on with a blown up picture of him dunking on Kevon from Holmes in the Lloyd Invitational.

Its kinda fun to see a NEW"CAT" in the fight for the regional title. This team has what it takes to cause some problems for the Dogs and even some teams down at the Sweet 16. Good Luck to my new favorite team, NEWPORT....now that my CRU is out with a tough loss to CCH.

His hops are unreal.

This flush was good.

This was a botched alley oop but look how high he is...this was without the aid of pulling up on the rim.

Nice Pic! I was at the game and saw that play, it put cold chills on me to see such a talented player. Good Luck Cats these next few days should really be fun!!

Congrats, Cats! We knew you had it in you - just don't let it disappear. Stay focused and continue on your path to more victories. We are so proud to have so many nice young men to represent Newport. And also very proud to be cheering for you at every game!

Wildcats play like that the rest of the tourney gonna be hard to beat, game should have been even worse but a couple calls in the first half when Newport was making a run stopped their momentum,And i for one hardly get on the officials (check some past post usually take up for them) but man if that's the 16th guy's and gal (she's good) i'll keep our ninth region officials anyday.

Great post! Those calls really stuck out to me too, just horrible. I have to give credit to Foster on keeping his composure after being the victim of a couple of those terrible calls.
