March 1, 201016 yr John Wall of Kentucky is the best freshman point guard I've ever seen. He's the best freshman point guard you've ever seen, too, unless you're old enough to have seen Magic Johnson average 17 points, 7.4 assists and 7.9 rebounds at Michigan State in 1978. Either way, Wall is the best freshman point guard of the last 30 years. That doesn't mean he's the national player of the year. John Wall is also the best NBA prospect in college basketball. In the NBA, Wall will be a cross between Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade. He'll be the No. 1 overall pick in June, and I don't care which team has that pick. It'll be Wall, because he's the best future pro in college basketball's present. That doesn't mean he's the NCAA player of the year, either. http://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/12989029/turners-season-so-big-it-even-overshadows-great-wall?tag=headlines;other
March 1, 201016 yr I agree. I think Turner deserves the POY, and is the reason I had picked Ohio State as my dark horse for the Final Four a few weeks ago.
March 1, 201016 yr Pretty good article. Turner has had an outstanding year and, at this point, is the frontrunner for POY. How many games did Turner miss because of that injury a while back?
March 1, 201016 yr Here is Gary Parrish's take on it: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/12945897?tag=untagged By the way, who looks goofier? Parrish or Doyel? :idunno:
March 1, 201016 yr Turner is the man, he should win the POY and IMO he most likely will win it. Wall is amazing, but so is Turner. ET is a good pro prospect in his own right IMO, I think he could be a better Brandon Roy.
March 1, 201016 yr Turner is just now getting the recognition he deserves. Very good ball player who many people still don't know much about.
March 1, 201016 yr Stats don't lie and OSU plays a schedule probably a bit tougher than KY. Actually, that couldn't be farther from the truth, but in this case, Turner deserves to be POY.
March 1, 201016 yr Stats don't lie and OSU plays a schedule probably a bit tougher than KY. Actually, that couldn't be farther from the truth, but in this case, Turner deserves to be POY. It is true, but only if every statistic is used. You see, when comparing PPG's of like players, that isn't enough to decide who's better, add every possible statistic, like ranking, percentages, SOS, etc.....they'll likely tell much more of a truthful story.
March 1, 201016 yr I agree, Wall has been the best freshman no doubt but Turner has been the best overall player this year. Wall has a chance to jump back up with a great finish and tournament but for now it has to be Turner.
