Indians travel to Park Hills Wednesday night for a 6:00 tip with the Colonels in the semi's of the 35th district tourney.

Covcath beat HC 60-45 at The Finn in the first match up between these two.

This is not a game to fool around with. CCH needs to go for the kill and keep the pressure on from start to finish, regardless of the score.

The regular season game at the Finn was much closer than the 15 point final margin of victory would suggest. In the Indians' last 2 games they lost @ Conner by 6 and @ St. Henry by 6. Holy Cross is definately within striking distance of Cov. Cath. I would not be a bit surprized if this game were a nail biter. I predict the Colonels will win a close, hard fought game.

I like Holy Cross by 3 in an upset.

CovCath should take care of the Indians early. If they don't it could get interesting. Holy Cross runs a lot of different looks on defense and it all depends on how the Colonels will respond. I think with the home court advantage and decided advantage in the post, CovCath will move on to meet the Bulldogs.

Cov Cath wins this one, but I look for HC to put up a fight. If they contain Welbrock and Thelen things could get interesting.

Not meaning to be flip, but that is like saying "if they score more points, they might win". I don't think HC can contain BOTH guys. However, they might be able to contain one. The key to this one is getting CovCath to score from more than 5 feet from the basket AND they have to make free-throws.

Question, does one ticket get you in to see both games tonight, or will they clear the gym?

As a Cov Cath fan, this game scares me. Holy Cross is going to come in on fire. They will do everything they can to shut down Thelen, which they did a pretty good job of last game, and force Wellbrock and Connelly to beat them. The Cov Cath guards also have to hit some shots, but what I think they need to do even more is drive and score/dish. This is something they do not do, and I am not too sure why they do not do more of. Of course scout you are right - they do have to hit their freebies - something else they have not done well.

I am curious as to how many touches Jake gets. Seems to me that the last few games, the guys have not been attempting to get the ball to him as much as we had. Appears to me that Coach has changed his strategy a bit.

Jake took 18 shots against Dixie, 17 shots against Simon Kenton and 11 against Madison Central, all the game highs for the team. Mason County and Holy Cross double teamed him. Can you explain a little bit how you came to the conclusion that they are not getting the ball to Jake lately?

Jake had been getting many more shot attempts than he has been. He had been getting 15 - 20 shots every game. Maybe it is partially due to defense, but that is not entirely true. There have been many occasions that Jake has had the position and the guys have not been getting the ball to him. Surely being as close to the program as you are, you have been hearing the talking that has been going on. Believe me - there has been a change in focus. If not, PM me and I will send to you.

I believe that CCH, at home, will win going away. It will be close through the 1st half but Thelen and Wellbrock will dominate the much smaller Indians inside.

You're inaccurate and should do the math like I did before you make such statements. Last 5 games: Madison - 11, SK - 17, MC - 6, Dixie - 18 and HC - 7, that comes out to 12 shots per game. The previous 5 before that: Scott - 14, Boone - 4, Dunbar - 21, Scott County - 11 and Western - 15 and that comes out to 13 per game. Not a big drop off. Lets go one more the last 5 before that: Montgomery - 12, NCC - 9, Holmes - 15, Beechwood - 17 and Highlands - 14 and that coms out to 13 per game. So you make a statement that he usually gets 15 - 20 shots and that has only happened 6 times in the last 15 games. He's taken almost 400 shots compared to the next closes Wellbrock who has about 1/2 that. Jake is a great player. This offense revolves around him, always has and always will.

Beechwood – 17

Highlands – 14

Bishop - 17

Ashland – 17

Glascow - 25

St X – 20

Conner – 15

Franklin – 20

I like Cov. Cath in this one, The 2 big guys and the crowd will be too much for Holy Cross.
