February 12, 201016 yr I believe their success with Cedric Benson has reconfirmed the Bengal's belief that their model works regarding reclamation projects. Not saying I agree with that philosophy, but Mikee does enjoy a bargain. If this means that Jones is competing with Coles for PT or a roster spot, then I love this move. I think they can get the same production with Jones, and save millions. This will give the Bengals their only WR that is big and strong, and will catch a ball in the middle-third of the field. BTW, I haven't seen a thing on Ben Utecht. How is his health, do the Bengal's have any interest in re-signing him?

February 12, 201016 yr That's the role that I thought Coffman might play, but we'll see. I don't see them giving up on Simpson, Caldwell, or Cosby; so I hope this means LC's the odd-man out. I'd still love to see the Bengal's first two picks be Jermaine Gresham and then Mardy Gilyard.

February 12, 201016 yr How so? He thinks that now that they have a down field threat in Jones as a 3rd or 4th receiver. This now clears the way for them to try to get TO to go opposite of Chad, since they have that down field receiver. Then they could just use their first pick on a TE he said. That was not word for word what he said, but that is basically what he said about it.

I don't mind this move at all, as long as this does not make them content and happy with what they have. If they still continue to try to get a better receiver, then I have no problem with it because he can make a good 3rd or 4th receiver for them.

They just want to get talented players at a cheap price, and hope that they have changed. Can you blame them though, I mean this approach has worked as of late. Here is hoping that they continue to have success with it.

I don't think it has been finalized yet, but he's done. I'd be very surprised if he ever lined up again. I like the Jones signing. Low cost, high reward. Let's not forget that, although Jones did not post impressive numbers, his quarterback left a lot to be desired in JAX. Hopefully a change of scenery will be good for him. Maybe his throwing ability will open up the offense a little bit. Or, maybe we just added another 6'6'' WR who can block downfield. Regardless, I like the move.

Jones is the kind of pickup that someone like the Patriots might make on the side. He may end up being a great fit in Cincy (in more ways that one :lol:) but I just don't see how a team in Cincy's position thinks that it is that much of a step forward. JMO.
