Only because he wants to coach John Wall :D

Andy Katz shot the rumor down on Sportscenter. Pitino has been in NY since Sunday recruiting and preparing the game tonight.

Just normal Pitino rumors IMO.

This seems more serious than the usual.

I don't know if Pitino's ego will be able to handle this part of the story whether there is any truth to it or not.

"Pitino is interested in the job," said a high-ranking team official, who added that the interest is all one way, coming from Pitino's side.

The Nets have drawn up a short list of candidates, starting with former Knick coach Jeff Van Gundy. But indications are that Pitino is not on the list and likely will not be included in a search.

Sources close to Pitino, 57, say the ex-Knick coach and native of Long Island continues to be worn down from the Louisville sex scandal that erupted last summer and almost cost him his job. In terms of basketball, friends say that he feels a threat from in-state arch-rival Kentucky, which has put itself back into the national spotlight with first-year coach John Calipari and one of the top recruiting classes in recent years.

The jab about feeling a threat from UK is way off base IMO. If he goes to the NBA it will have little to do with anything the Cats are doing.

And this rumor is officially shot down....

And/or Lebron??? Nets are talking about a move to Brooklyn. Not saying it will happen, but it could.:idunno:

Let me first say, I give this about a 1% chance of actually happening, but just because Pitino says he's not interested, doesn't mean anything. He said the same thing about the Celtics job...

I heard on the radio this morning that he had been in contact with the Nets this week, to use their facilities while they were stuck up in NY during the snow storm. The teams been up there since Tuesday and are staying until they go to Syracuse Sunday.

I've never, EVER heard a coach say that before.

I agree that Slick Rick is not leaving now, but to say it's not true just because he is denying it is quite laughable.
