February 8, 201016 yr Author I remember when we moved in 1967 to a new house; I was 11 years old. Family pool membership cost $40 a summer. I worked off my $10 share for 20 hours at 50 cents an hour doing yard work at home. However, I'm not considering off-the-books work for money I never saw as my first paying job.

February 8, 201016 yr Lived in Cherry Hill Subdivision, Erlanger in 1963 at the age of 12 I baby sat and also shoveled alot of snow. Baby sat for .50 cents per hour and shoveled snow for $2 or $3 bucks. Not bad for spending money back then. Beechwoodfan after Village In Pizza did you ever go to Waldo Peppers? JD I did all the way from Ft Thomas after playing Putt Putt .
February 8, 201016 yr 16 year old Fuller Brush Salesman selling door to door . It was in 1963 and there were lot of interesting then middle age women on my route ( mid 30s etc . ) in Dayton and Bellevue . Now I consider women that age kids .:eek:
February 8, 201016 yr Selling block coal in S.E Ky when I was 17. My dad had an old dump truck that would haul 8 to 10 ton. I'd make about $250 a load. Pretty good money in the late 70's.

February 9, 201016 yr Brother and I started a lawncare business. Grass cutting, leaf raking, snow removal and odd jobs. Had quite an extensive customer base. Took quite the pay cut when I went away to college and worked for a paycheck.
February 9, 201016 yr I went in with my dad and a neighbor and bought a Sunbeam snow thrower in 1976. I did their driveways in exchange for the loan. I used the blower on my driveway today. The blower is 34 years old! They don't make 'em like that anymore!
