Who is front runner for National Player of the YEAR?

I feel Wall and Cousins both has to be mentioned in this topic . Along with Johnson ,Collins and Aldrich . Whats your opinions on this ? If Cousins continues to improve game by game ,he may possibly be one of the front runners at the end ...:idunno:

Walls stock has fallen in the POY of the race.

 

Yet again, no candidate in my mind has really stood out who clearly deserves the award! Right now, its hard to gauge who the real front runner is because there really isn't one.

 

Here are some candidates for the award in no particular order:

 

John Wall

Demarcus Cousins

John Scheyer

Sherron Collins

Luke Harangody

Damion James

 

If I had to pick a player right now for the award, I'd be very inclined to give it to Damion James or John Scheyer this season... They are averaging 18 points, 11 boards and 19 points and 6 assists a game, respectively. But with that said, this years POY race is very wide open and I wouldn't be surprised if someone else won it.

I don't think that I would be upset if any of those players won. I don't really see Harangody winning though because his team isn't as competitive, but he is definitely having a good year.

It should be Cousins IMO but I don't really have any idea how the voting will go.

Harangody would win it if his team were competitive but they simply aren't. Its like us with Meeks and Patterson last year. If our team had been more competitive, they would have been mentioned more often than they were for National POY award (more so Meeks than Patterson in this case for last year).

Cole Aldrich, IMO, is the most overhyped/overrated big man in the country.

I actually thought about him but I figured the games missed really hurt him .If the games missed doesn't effect his votes then you may be right ,he is one heck of a player .

I agree, I think it is Evan Turner's to lose at this point. He's been on fire since coming back from his injury.

Before he got hurt, I would have said Turner.

 

Before Texas tanked, I would have said James.

 

Before he went into a funk, I would have said Wall.

 

If he wasn't perceived to be a thug, I would say Cuz.

 

Right now, I have to go w/ Collins. But an argument could be made for any number of players.

I'm going to go with Evan Turner and John Wall at the top of the list; DeMarcus Cousins is making the biggest push to get to that level, however.

Before it's all over, Wall will probably freshman of the year. I'm not sure he'll be Nation POY, though. There's a lot of good players out there. Did everybody forget about Scotty Reynolds?

 

I think DoJo, at least, belongs in the conversation, too.
