February 5, 201016 yr I can buy that. I think he is timid due to all the talent around him. I don't know if it is the talent around him as he apparently performs well at practice or just a confidence thing with him. Every kid is different. If Darius makes a big play you can almost bet he will make another. One game it was 2 tremendous blocked shots back to back, another it was 3 point baskets. But if he misses a shot, he seems to get more timid. He needs to learn how to have a short memory. If something goes bad, there is nothing you can do about it now. Don't dwell on it, just keep pressing forward. Some never have an issue with that, some get over it in time, some never get over it. I think Cal with work with him until he breaks through. And I believe it will come. I guess last year, he was timid because he was a Freshman. I can't wait to hear the excuses for him next year. I realize that you believe that every kid should come in and be an All American immediately and be getting the most of their ability all the time, but that rarely happens. I keep thinking of Andre Woodson. Really didn't look comfortable or confident at all his frosh & soph seasons and it showed. Then his junior season, Katie bar the door. He looked like a world beater. He found his groove and bam, he took off. I hope for the same for Darius because from what I have seen and especially from what Coach Cal seems to think of him the ability is there. I will take Coach Cal's assessment over what any of us might think as he sees him every day in practice and knows what he is capable of.

February 5, 201016 yr I think his jumper needs a bit of work, seems to lack a nich arch. I think he should be more aggressive and take it to the rim.

February 6, 201016 yr Where were you an All-American hoopboy? Am I playing for the University of Kentucky? :idunno: I know my limits. Does Darius?

That seems to happen to me a lot.
February 6, 201016 yr None of us knows the real reason/s why he may be struggling. I think he will do much better next year after a year in Cals system. He is not Wall or Cousins a lottery pick, he is kid learning to get better.
February 6, 201016 yr I wish he would stop spotting up 3's and take it to the rim. He misses his 3 and confidence sinks. Let Dodson shoot 3's and take it to the rim Darius. If Darius is going to play, he has to shoot that shot. He is WIDE OPEN. I don't remember another player EVER getting as many wide open looks at Darius. Maybe he's too open & it gives him time to think about it. Maybe bringing him off the bench will relieve some of the pressure? The potential is there and I think he'll still have a great career at UK.

February 6, 201016 yr I've been for keeping him on the bench all season and giving Dodson more minutes.:taz:

Let Dodson who is earning a scholarship off the 3 take the 3's. I really think Darius will do better next year in Cal's system.
February 6, 201016 yr Where were you an All-American hoopboy? Seriously, what has that got to do with Darius Miller. I really don't understand the point of this post at all. Please explain.
February 6, 201016 yr I think Miller needs to change his jump shot technique. He needs to put a higher arch on his shot, and probably change the release point. Very few great shooters shoot a flat shot.

Very few great shooters shoot a flat shot. I think we all need to realize that in High School he was mainly down low a lot. So he is not going to have the perfect jump shot from the outside right now, it will take time. He does have all the potential in the world though, and will end up being a key piece to how this team does in the Big Dance this year IMO.
