I think Miller needs to change his jump shot technique. He needs to put a higher arch on his shot, and probably change the release point. Very few great shooters shoot a flat shot.

 

I agree, he shoots a very flat shot. I can't understand for the life of me why he won't drive to the basket more. That's definately his strong point. I'd like to see him get it together, but I fear he will become one of those players who will be a legend at practice and can't get it done in the games.

I think we all need to realize that in High School he was mainly down low a lot. So he is not going to have the perfect jump shot from the outside right now, it will take time. He does have all the potential in the world though, and will end up being a key piece to how this team does in the Big Dance this year IMO.

 

Still plenty of time left for Miller but I thought he would be more of a factor at this point. Patrick Patterson had been a post player for all of his life, and he seems to be more confident shooting from outside. I still have plenty of hope for Miller and luckily Dodson and Liggins can also contribute at the position so it's not imperative for him to play great every game.

From Middle School to College, some kids make all kinds of plays whether in practice, in a rec center, or in pick-up games........turn the lights on in the gym and put butts in the seats and they disappear............some kids just don't have "it"

I'm not defending Darius at all, but he did play quite a bit his last 2 yrs. at guard along with Middleton at Mason Co. Also, I have noticed this year along with Liggins and Dodson some basic fundamentals which they are either ignoring or told not to do. One is when Wall or Bledsoe is comming down on the break they stop at the 3 pt. line and don't finish filling the lane and give them another option to pass to instead of trying to make layups or acobatic layups and causing turnovers. Another is when the ball is on the opposite side of the court from Darius (or the other 2) and a shot is taken (usually a 3) and the are standing out at the 3 pt. line they fall back on defense, conceding the rebound to the other team instead of going to the basket for weak side rebounding help. These 2 points were very evident during the South Carolina game! Also, when he does drive to the basket he his looking to pass rather than shoot(I know dribble-Drive) but he has to want to shoot too. Seems like he is concedeing his game a little too much to Wall and Co. and is more comfortable just playng defense and letting them score the points.

I've been for keeping him on the bench all season and giving Dodson more minutes.:taz:

 

I am for giving Liggins more minutes over both Darius and Dodson. Darius must overcome the confidence issues and Dodson needs to work on his defensive game. Sometimes playing with Dodson is like only having 4 defenders on the court. Liggins has really impressed me since making it back to the floor.
