Ralph was a walk-on until his senior year 1980. He played with Bernie and Ernie 2 years max.

It has never been explained how she was able to do what is strictly prohibited in the Boone County School system. All that is ever said is that she was permitted to do so, but without any explaination. I would love to hear how she pulled this off. There are several students that would prefer to go to a different high school but have not been allowed to transfer.

 

I guess if someone really wanted to know all they would have to do is make an open records request to the BOE.

 

I would love to hear WVFRANK tell us how and why she transferred because he has yet to do so.

 

As I have stated before, every policy has exceptions. The reasons for the transfer are personal, and, again as I've stated before, probably best not brought out in this forum. Those reasons were good enough for the Boone County BOE to grant the transfer after considering the information. Those same reasons were good enough for the KHSAA to grant athletic eligibility without her sitting out. The KHSAA also has exceptions to their policies. Those are available on their website.

 

Couple of other things. Moss' transfer was not simply about basketball. There were other far more important reasons. She was willing to sit out a year athletically to make the move out of Ryle.

 

Another point. Moss IS NOT the only person to transfer within the county in the past several years. In fact not even the only person (or athlete) to transfer out of (or in to) Ryle.

 

Also of importance in this............Coach Fookes had nothing to do with the move, unless you consider what I'll state next:

 

I've seen this argument about high schools "recruiting" in more than one state. Reality is that winning programs with solid coaching "recruit" for themselves. Good players want to play for those programs. I don't know the history of transfers to Boone, only the Moss case, but I'm betting the transfers came on their own, without "recruiting" by Coach Fookes. I know there was absolutely no recruiting, or any involvement by Coach Fookes, in the Moss transfer.

 

I'll also bet there were other transfers over this time period, to other schools, that don't get mentioned because those schools have not as constantly won as Boone County has.

 

Success will always bring out detractors looking to tear down that success any way they can.

Also, as I posted earlier, you have not said what the reason for the transfer is; you have only said it is personal. I respect the privacy of the issue and I have a pretty good idea what the issue was/is. I was pointing out that by saying it is "personal" is not stating what the cause for the petition to transfer was/is.

Perhaps we could have Boone and Ryle play once per week, how nice is it to have real interest in Girls basketball again. Hats off to these two programs. It seems as though you have flipped on the 9th Region switch.

I wasn't questioning your thoughts about the Fookes, rather stating a general thought that some have pursued the issue that Boone has had a lot of transfers thus indiating they were "at fault" in that.

 

The cause for the petition for transfer remains "personal" not to obfuscate the issue but rather to avoid any further hard feelings. To state the cause would lead to more contentious exchanges than what we have seen thus far.

 

Sydney is happy and thriving in her new school. For me that is the bottom line.:thumb:

All I am saying is I was just above it and I didn't see it. I did see the player remain in the game and commented to my wife that was a missed rule. Nell went hard at the officials and I still don't know what they called here.

I believe they called a foul on Ryle #25. And after the foul #25 ran in front of the BC bench and you could see Coach Fookes was saying something, not sure what, but the foul was off the ball an uncalled for, unsportsmen like and perhaps that was what Coach said to her when she walked by?

 

On another play the ball had gone out of bounds and they called it BC ball. A time out was called and when they returned from the time out, they gave the ball to Ryle. I believe the refs realized their mistake during the quarter break, looked like they were discussing that they had messed that one up pretty well.

She chased Dawn Johnson to right in front of the scorer's table. I'd like to see game films. If she didn't bump Dawn it was close. She was in her face screaming at her.

 

If you are a coach and see your player get slammed to the floor and see her hit her head hard. Then the opposing player laughs afterwards. What are you suppose to do as a coach? Protect your players! and thats what Coach Fookes did right there! The ryle player should have been ejected from the game no question. That should not be tolarated in any type of basketball game, theses girls could get hurt out here!
