That shouldn't be condoned, I agree. But I saw #23 on Ryle get hit in the forehead by a Boone player running past a pick and it snapped her head back. The ref, who usually only does freshman and jv games looked right at it and called nothing. I don't hear any complaints about that dirty play. Apparently I wasn't the only one to see it from the crowd's reaction but it wasn't called so I guess that's okay. I guess it's a one way street.

 

I'd say it's more an "in the eye of the beholder" thing. Seems most of the complaints about officiating in this thread is coming from the fans of the team that lost. That's usually how it is. Had the outcome turned the other way I suspect that might be different because I know there are Boone County fans who weren't enamored with the officiating either.

You are right! Considering Fookes is on a string of 12 consecutive years with a transfer and the last four were with a transfer including these two I would say she has underachieved!! Have alot more respect for the coaches who develop and win with their own players. Really have respect for the programs who lost players to Boone and won Regional Titles in spite. Conner and Highlands for example. Never know Ryle could be the next!!

All of Ryle's players began their high school eligibilty as Freshman at Ryle

High School. None have played at any other schools from their 9th grade year on.

I wonder why the transfer issue is not that big of a deal on the boys teams. It happens, you hear it but it is what it is? Newport...Scott County two that come to mind.

I'm not picking on anyone but, I've always thought it would be interesting to see the actual assigned public high school of every player and see just exactly where everyone would belong "IF" there weren't so many "IF's" and exceptions, waivers, private schools and open enrollments. Neat to see who would be playing where and with who! :popcorn:

 

Players at Boone would be at Ryle and players at Ryle would be at Walton and NCC / ND would be playing ??????? What a neat chart to just sit and look at! :banana:

 

Think a chart like that would ever be put together? :jump:

I'm sure it's an issue there,as well. It's like beating a dead horse though. School districts and the KHSAA are going to do things their own way regardless of what we may have to say about it.

Remember the days when Dixie lost a lot of great players to Moeller? Changes in the rules were made ,finally, but with any rule ,there are ways around them. Such is life in amateur athletics.

Tonite was my first time ever seeing the Moss girl play. Obviously, she's talented and strong and dominates the inside plus she has a sweet stroke from the foul line. Dominant.

 

However, if you made me pick one player that you can project her game to the college level I'll take Crittendon. Very impressive all-around game.

Crittendon looks like she has some nice size. Her Dad was an outstanding athlete at Bellevue in the early 80's. A 3 sport star who was QB, Guard and a pitcher on the baseball diamond. She has a bright future ahead of her no doubt.

None of the 3 officials "usually" does JV or freshman games.

I didn't think the officiating was awful, but a shot to the forehead, enough to snap your head back is not "beauty in the eye of the beholder" it's just fact. Did it cost the game? Of course not. I have never seen a team lose a close game that they themselves didn't have the chances to win. There could have been missed freethrows, broken defensive assignments, etc..Referees don't lose games. You can find bad calls on both sides. But if you want to moan and groan about one side, acknowledge the other. Otherwise you're a hypocrite.

If I'm mistaken, I apologize but last year I saw one of them doing a freshman game at Ryle and some JV. Maybe he was just filling in for someone, I don't know. I just didn't expect to see him in a larger magnitude game. As I said on another post, officials don't lose games. I did think this three man crew had some trouble getting on the same page at times, but that effects both teams with the delays.

If I remember correctly the Scott Co issue was a big if not huge deal.
