These football games against the top Ohio teams get the kids and fans more fired up since the local media can cover them. Why drive two hours to play a X&T when they can drive 20 minutes and play five teams as good as if not better then either X&T. The Ohio teams are the squads that NKY hear about everyday during the season not the teams from the "ville".

If you don't believe playing a team like St. X poses any more risk to injuries, then you really don't understand the caliber of the athletes in the GCL (90+ Jrs. and Srs. says it all). They have more bigger, faster athletes yearly than any league in the country and Colerain is on that level.

The last time Highlands played St. X & Colerain, they have had 3 QB's injured!

And yet HHS beat the big, bad, bruisers from the GCL. Go figure. How silly of them to schedule a game against a top-rated, vastly superior and physical opponent given the terrible risk of injury that such a game posed. And what ignorance/audacity of Ryle to schedule not one, but two games, against the team that beat these GCL superstars. Now that I think of it, you're right - I do remember Ryle bodies lying all over the field after those HHS games. I had forgotten that. This Colerain game is nothing but a huge mistake. I am now convinced.

Well if you wanna be technical about it how about secondary? Mike Mitchell? I really look forward to watching Drake this year. I wanna see his combine stats and see how well he does with man to man coverage. He is a hit first ask questions later corner. If he can register a 40 anywhere in the 4,4's and continue to develop he will play corner/saftey at the next level.

4.4??? This kid is going to run a time that would make him one of the faster players in the NFL? You might want to keep the expectations for him realistic.

You have never heard of a high school kid run in the 4.4's? Bardo runs a 4.5, I bet Bruns is already very close to that. If he can get in the 4.4's that will up his offers. Also, read my post I said 4.4's didn't say 4.4 flat.

I can think of two guys that I played with in high school who ran 4.4's. I wouldn't say that players that fast aren't frequent, but it's not like it never happens either. :idunno:

Ryle is not Highlands.

It Highlands how many games to get a W?????

BTW, I hope Ryle does well against Colerain; but if Colerain doesn't continue to decline and Ryle doesn't make huge strides between now- it will be ugly; I hope that doesn't happen for Raiders.

RARELY- high school 40 times are always inflated.

Both of the guys I played with were both track standouts as well...they were legitimate.

At last year's NFL combine, only 9 of the top 25 CB's ran 4.49 or lower; the fastest time was a 4.46.

Only 2 Safeties ran 4.49 or lower.

It is very rare and most of the time it is claimed it is inflated.

Anyhow we are all guilty of hijacking this thread..... back to topic.

Mike Mitchell played Safety at Ohio University and was drafted as a safety by the Raiders.

Division I CB is a rare thing in NKY.

Bardo was injured out of bounds on a late hit personal foul call. It had nothing to do with playing Cincy X!!!! :ohbrother:

Then it had to do with toughness? or lack of knowldege of where you're at on the field..or off the field in this matter.

Ryle is not Highlands.

Not yet. And i obviously mean in terms of competitiveness. They are not going to catch up in state championships...

Look I'm sure he's fast. But a TRUE, laser-timed 4.4? No way. You are talking about a very elite time there. Go look at the times of the top players in college and NFL. He just isn't at that level and it's a disservice to him to lay such expectations out there for him.

High school 40 times are always inflated. First of all, they aren't truly accurate because they are done by hand. Secondly, every decent athlete claims to run a "4.6" (they' don't), so it makes the truly fast kids have to inflate their times. 4.4 is just unrealistic for the most part. Same for baseball. A few high school kids might throw in the 80's, but since every dad of every halfway decent player claims his kid throws "mid-80's", it forces the real 80 mph pitchers to claim they throw "high 80's to 90's."

No, Ryle is not Highlands. I agree.

But it's also an over-the-top statement to say that a game like this poses serious injury risks to Ryle players because it will be such a one-sided bloodbath. Both Highlands and St. X (Louisville) were fast, strong, physical teams and we came out of those three games no worse for wear (physically anyways :sssh:) than our games against Boone, Conner, Simon Kenton, etc..
