January 13, 201016 yr Author Well UK won't be tested again until UT comes to town. That should be a good one. You really never know with conference road games, that goes for any sport. If they play like they did tonight, they could run the table in the SEC.
January 13, 201016 yr My one complaint about Kentucky this season: The way we defend the fast break. Kentucky, for the most part, does not sprint down the court to try and cut off the ball when they have a breakaway layup. Wall let a Gator go today, and it wasn't the first time. Bledsoe doesn't sprint back - he tries to time his steps and block the layup. A few other Cats do the same, or similar, things. It frustrates me. And yes, it feels great that my biggest complaint is how we defend breakaway layups. I just wish they'd sprint down the court & make an attempt at cutting off the layup. You can do it without even touching the guy or making an attempt at the ball. Just fly in front of him. You'd be shocked at how often it works, and you'll even get a chance to get a few clean swipes in. It's fundamental basketball, and the only thing we've truly lacked all season long, IMO.
January 13, 201016 yr Well UK won't be tested again until UT comes to town. That should be a good one. Not quite. Any time you play on the road it's a battle, but South Carolina is a good team. In Columbia will be a tough game. Then we play Vandy & Ole Miss, who are both in/around the top 25. I think we'll take care of business against UT.
January 13, 201016 yr Author ^That definitely could use some work. Usually after we give up an easy two, we get it back in our transition game though
January 13, 201016 yr ^That definitely could use some work. Usually after we give up an easy two, we get it back in our transition game though  It's amazing, we get 4-2 fast breaks after made baskets. If we'd run through the play, they would run pass the baseline...trailer takes the ball out and hits the person who ran through the play on the way back up the court and the fast break continues just as easily. Just bothers me, that's all. Especially since it's all effort.
January 13, 201016 yr Orton tossed three in a row. Very nice to see the Cats go on the road and take one for the Gators!
January 13, 201016 yr So glad to see Bledsoe play as good as he did. I'd love to see him consistantly play well. Miller looked like he picked up a little more confidence. Cousins plays with so much heart and intensity, I love it. Came up with some big hustle plays. Wall picked up probably seven points at the end of the game which makes his stats look good. But, boy did his block look nasty! Calipari basically called him out saying before the game that one of his players needed to either step up in Gainesville or start getting used to the bench. And he is very good once he can get himself right outside the paint area with that little baby jumper of his.
January 13, 201016 yr Starting five... Bledsoe 25 Wall 19 Pat 15 Boogie 13 Miller 9 81 points from our starters, not bad. 7 points from the bench will often be looked down upon but thats what is about expected in most parts. Orton, Harris, Stevenson are mainly brought in for their defensive prowess. Offensively, Dodson is the one that is brought in to give us an upstart in that department. Liggins brings a bit of both in each but is more of the "hustle" type player now from what I've seen. Harrelson and Hood won't see the floor the rest of the year IMO, unless its mop-up duty or they are in severe foul trouble.
January 13, 201016 yr KY basketball is fun again! Not only winning but the style! They can run..they are athletic..they are long and can play defense. The great thing is they seem to be getting better and better!
January 13, 201016 yr First few minutes started to worry me but after they caught up at around the 15 mark I didn't think there was a chance we would lose that game. Bledsoe played unreal. Even when Wall came out for the last 3-4 minutes in the 1st half, Kentucky still made something like a 12-2 run. Dodson and Bledsoe's 3 pointers laid a dagger in Fla's hearts late in the game. And last but not least, is this the best alley-ooping team in college basketball history? Could be. We may never know..
January 13, 201016 yr Impressive finishing kick by the Wildcats. I was curious to see what would happen when these young guys were in a truly hostile environment, and things weren't going well. They responded in a big way and answered a lot of questions.
January 13, 201016 yr I felt like UK lost this game. I was on the phone with a buddy and had the TV on mute. I didn't pay attention to the score, but I though for most of the game UK was getting beat. Strange game.
January 13, 201016 yr Florida got red hot, fought back and tied the game but UK never rattled. Very impressive for such a young team. I said in the game thread that Bledsoe is finally healthy. By the way, Boogie is an absolute man. That's what impressed me the most. Even our veteran teams have been rattled in situations like this where this team held strong.
January 13, 201016 yr I really wish this team would get that killer instinct and put teams away. When they were up 15 in the second half there is no way that UF should have ever got it back to a tie. For some reason these guys like to do things the hard way sometimes and make things tougher than they should be.
