Crist will still be recovering from the ACL injury and at best will be able to throw a few passes, but will not get to start fully grasping the system and getting in a flow with the skill positions. Clearly there is no more important position for what BK does as a coach, and not having a QB for his first Spring Ball is a major blow. 2. As mentioned in my post above, how does he adjust to not having Quinn and Forrest working the offensive game plan in the week leading up to games. BK is a control freak, and one of the few things he allowed to be branched out was those two working with Molnar to devise the play chart for BK to call off of on game day. How comfortable will he be with Molnar the only remaining voice, and having to turn to others and fully trust them to do exactly what he wants when scheming for an opponent. This could very well end up a seamless transition, but there is no way he had this in mind when he took the job. Add those with the switch to the 3-4 and the things I listed above and I'm guessing while BK is confident he can make magic at ND, it will be far from easy to get the ball rolling quickly to keep the heat to a simmer as he puts things in place...
January 4, 201016 yr I think they are definetly athletic enough on offense but that has not been their problem as of late. Defense on the other hand does need an athletic overhaull I worry about their offensive line and lack of a running game under Weis becoming the reality of ND football. I don't know if it was all Weis' fault.

Crist will see some action in spring ball and they have a freshman QB enrolling in January. The 3-4 was used loast year in ND so I don't know how hard that transition will be

January 4, 201016 yr I think the lack of OL talent has to be one Weis. He just wasn'table to get enough linemen. Willingham didn't bring any in either. They need some stud linemen IMO. If you want to win a championship you have to be able to block the big time schools defenses IMO.

I don't count early entries until they actually happen. Even if he is, it is a much less than ideal situation at such a critical position in the system. Just look at how many played in 3 short years at UC, and how good the backup replacing an injured starter at CMU turned out. From what I have been told by a source joing BK here soon the best they expect is Crist to be able to do some throwing and MAYBE a little 7 on 7 in the Spring. Any way you slice it, it is going to be less than an ideal situation at QB for the first few months leading up to season 1...
January 4, 201016 yr I think that if the line improves and of course the defensive side then they can have a shot. They are far away from that point right now and have a lot more to worry about. I think Kelly is doing everything right as of right now though and hopefully things keep going in the right direction.

January 4, 201016 yr Do you think bringing in Diaco to run the D is the right move??? You can probably tell me more but just from the view of a fan, I think maybe they could do better, maybe they can't. I just know I'm not excited. I like the hire of Chuck Martin and Teo returning is defiantly big.
January 5, 201016 yr Kelly will not do much in his short stay at N.D. Why not? He took a UC team to back to back BCS games, won the MAC championship with CMU and won back to back Div. II National Championships at GVSU. SO what do you take from that that makes you think he will have a short unsuccessfull stay in South Bend.
