January 5, 201016 yr ND also brought in plenty of defensive players that were rated very high. So, let's not act like these rankings are everything. Yeah I don't, I was just saying that those guys panned out and it's not like everyone was overrated.

January 5, 201016 yr So they have had all these top 15 classes and you say they have provened it on the field then why are they as bad as they are year in and year out? They are not close to a top 15 team. That's because Weis wasn't a great developer of talent and a 3 defensive cordinators in 5 years.

January 6, 201016 yr Kelly will not do much in his short stay at N.D. Based on what. The man has been a head coach for 19 years and has won 75% of his games, its not like he will suddenly forget how to coach. They might not get back into the national championship hunt, but I'll be shocked if he isn't successful. Based on this resume, I think it would be foolish to write him off already. He is the most qualified person for the head coach position hired by Notre Dame since Lou Holtz. Possibly Notre Dame's last 20 years of mediocrity? Outside of 1993, this is correct, but Notre Dame could easily reverse the trend if Kelly is as advertised.

January 6, 201016 yr Any word on Elston and Dembrock as recruiters? Dembrock brings west coast ties from two stints in the Pac 10, and was an assistant at ND in the past, so he should be solid on the recruiting trail. From what I can tell of how the staff will play out he will handle a large majority of the work out west. Elston was solid as a recruiter at UC, but really nothing spectacular. He was one of the two guys that worked Florida and landed a few nice prospects from down there. He was the recruiting coordinator the first two years, and while he did a good job I honestly expected a little more out of him. He does have some solid Florida contacts, and if he can use those to get in on some of the top level talent down there he will be fine...
January 6, 201016 yr Time will tell but I do not see things changing for them unless they down grade the schedule again. And Ohio State plays a difficult schedule? I don't think you would want to compare theirs to Notre Dame's.
January 6, 201016 yr More years than not they do. No... Your forgetting that Notre Dame always has played a tough schedule. It's been recent years they have dropped. In recent years ND has had as good if not better schedule than Ohio State. BTW, thanks for your insight GT on the hires. Good to hear we got some good guys coming. :thumb:
