I understand your frustration, but I don't think many people really felt that he would stay there long term with the success that he was having. In the long run his tenure there may turn out to be the best thing ever to happen to UC.

 

You know more about the situation than I do, but from what I understand many of the upgrades to the facilities and football program in general are being done because Kelly spent a lot of time lobbying the administration to get it done.

 

I feel like because of this UC now has started to build the foundation for long term success in football. With Kelly being so adamant that these changes take place they could have very easily regressed into the level that they were at just a few years ago.

I'm not saying you did, but I do find it funny that so many people are as upset as they are about a coach leaving a program for what they (the coach) believe to be greener pastures. Anymore you really can't believe anything that a coach says about the prospects of taking another position, I think it is in their DNA. How many have adamantly denied interest in another program just days or even hours before accepting the position.

 

Of course I really don't blame them. How many of us are going to tell their employer that they are looking for another job with a competitor. It's just harder for a coach to job hunt behind the scenes as we would be able to do.

Find it funny all you want. I don't have any issue with the guy leaving for a better job. As I have said many times on here, I really wanted to wish him well and move on. If I was really bitter about things I would be throwing out all kinds of dirty laundry that have followed him from GVSU to CMU to UC.

 

He was instrumental in pushing UC to a new level, and I really do thank him for that. At the end of this process he told some epic lies and was nothing like the person he put out there to the people that backed him at each step along the way.

 

I expect him to win at a pretty good clip at ND. When we look back in 3-5 years, I also expect many of the things I am talking about to be a national media talking point under the ND spotlight...

No... Your forgetting that Notre Dame always has played a tough schedule. It's been recent years they have dropped. In recent years ND has had as good if not better schedule than Ohio State.

ND's schedule has not really changed that much through the years, rather the teams they traditionally play have regressed in recent years. The past two seasons are the only 2 I can remember Notre Dame ever playing a "mid-major".

Yeah it's just instead of Tennessee, Penn State, Miami, or Florida State they are playing Nevada or Tulsa... Which is no fun.

Those teams were normally under short term contracts. Some of these type games will resurface with home/home competitions with Oklahoma and Arizona State. UConn and Pitt appear to be a mainstay on the schedule for a few years.

That's because Weis wasn't a great developer of talent and a 3 defensive cordinators in 5 years.

I will wait and see what the reasons are with the new staff.:laugh:
