December 28, 200916 yr I get that. But it seems the current regime has reached a plateau. Is 3-5, with one year of 4-4 every now and then good enough? I think the fan base would be happy with it if a New Years Day Bowl game was in there every 3 or 4 years. I think UK's football situation is much like the middle tier or low tier schools in basketball. Those schools fan bases will generally be happy with a 20 win season, and an NCAA tournament appearance.

It is acceptable for our football program, but not basketball as we have seen.
December 28, 200916 yr Why are you so defensive? My claims aren't off the wall. I'm not questioning your character, your integrity, or if your a racist or not. If you don't think racism is still alive and well though you are mistaken. Trust me, I see it every day. I have lived it. People want to believe it's not a problem anymore, but it is. But some people think it is the reason for "everything". And that is just not true.

December 28, 200916 yr Then it seems Phillips should be OK as HC. So do you feel that Phillips can't improve upon what Brooks has done?
December 28, 200916 yr But I think the bowl game classification isn't one to hang you hat on. It means you are among the best 68 teams in the nation. That's not even the top half of all FBS schools if you just "sneak in". In the 1980s when Kentucky was getting back to bowl games under Jerry Claiborne, their schedules featured Kansas, Kansas State, Clemson, Indiana, and several other teams from the big conferences. Now, because of the pressure to get that sixth win, Kentucky plays Murray State, Eastern Kentucky, and middle of the pack MAC teams. Throw out Louisville. The last time UK played someone from a BCS conference? Indiana in 2005. Before that? North Carolina in 1989. To me, UK's back-to-back bowl appearances in the early 1980s are much more significant than four straight appearances this day and time because of how FCS teams stack the deck in their favor to get six wins. It's not about bowl games. Kentucky takes the next step in their program when they start scheduling non conference games with BCS conference opponents. In this day and age, just because a team wins seven games and makes a bowl, it doesn't mean they aren't mediocre.

December 28, 200916 yr So do you feel that Phillips can't improve upon what Brooks has done? How realistic would the expectations be to ask Joker to finish better than that?
December 28, 200916 yr How realistic would the expectations be to ask Joker to finish better than that? I already asked you that question. My question is do you feel that Joker can improve on what Brooks has done?
December 28, 200916 yr Yes they did. Six games. Well that certainly made it easier to schedule tougher out of confernce games.
December 28, 200916 yr Are you saying UK couldnt schedule one non-rival game against a BCS conference team in 20 years?
December 28, 200916 yr Are you saying UK couldnt schedule one non-rival game against a BCS conference team in 20 years? Not saying they couldn't, but it makes more sense, and cents to make their OOC schedule as easy as possible.
December 28, 200916 yr Not saying they couldn't, but it makes more sense, and cents to make their OOC schedule as easy as possible. I agree which is why back to back bowls in the 1980s is much more of an accomplishment than four straight today.
December 28, 200916 yr You may say it's not a race thing, and hopefully for most people you are right. I am confident that it is for many people though. It is very sad someone has to bring up racism. Are we in Scranton?
