UK Coaching Situation

Featured Replies

Did you do poorly in reading comprehension in school?

No, I do well at reading between your lines here. We know what your getting at. For you to say that race is a problem at UK and just UK is rediculious and disgusting. I have been to many games in the last 15 years and I have never heard race brought up about Tubby/Joker b/t our fanbase. Now the media however, yes, they bring it up all the time.

Get with the times, people have moved on from race being a problem.

You are so completely wrong if you truly think that.

1.If that were the scenario, then no without any previous UK ties I don't think Joker would get the job.

2.You can't take away those factors though.

1. But do you think he would be the best man for the job?

2. I disagree. Either he is the best man for the job or he isn't. I just hate that UK tied their own hands by giving him the job already. Like I said, you never know what he future will hold.

There is the few, but those people get discounted by the majority.

Yes I am/was talking about race. That still doesn't imply that I was calling woodsrider a racist because I quoted his post.

You are new here, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt... But typically when you quote someone, you are replying directly to what they are saying, or adding additional information.

By replying "I can see now that Joker is going to get the same treatment Tubby did, and that's a shame" to someone, you should definitely be able to see how one could take that as you implying that they are a racist -- When in all actuality they did not say anything racist or inappropriate at all.

I respectfully disagree, and use the way Tubby was treated as proof.

Tubby was treated the same exact way that any other coach here would have been treated had he bailed the last two seasons like he did and failed to make the Final Four since after his first year. People can use race as an excuse for poor performance if they want, but that'll only go so far.

This thread has made for some quality comedy.

Yeah something like that.

If the head coach thinks that the OC isn't performing up to par, then it is his repsonibility to make sure that the offense performs up to it's capabilities. There have been many head coaches that have taken over play calling on either side of the ball because they felt that that particular side of the ball wasn't peforming up to his expectations.

So if Brooks would have taken over, I am sure in your opinion that race had something to do with it.

How many times has an SEC school hired a head coach that has no HC experience? Or one that as a coordinator did not have a stellar track record?

This thread is awesome.

I can see now that Joker is going to get the same treatment Tubby did, and that's a shame. The guy hasn't even coached a game yet, and people aren't even going to give him a chance. :irked:

You may say it's not a race thing, and hopefully for most people you are right. I am confident that it is for many people though.

So what? We all have to overcome obstacles both real and perceived.

This thread is awesome.

And I am guessing it is only going to get better.

Here is what I have heard.

Coach Brooks met with UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart after the regular season was over and said he would like to coach one more season, but he wanted more money for his final season. Mitch Barnhart said to get back with him after the bowl game as to how much money he had in mind and that the athletics department would see what they could do.

I was surprised to hear him tell the team he was 80% gone for next season.

Personally, I am banking on that 20% chance that he returns. The Clemson game was not a fitting end to Rich Brook's 47 year coaching career.

I hope you are right...I would love to see Coach Brooks back on the sideline at least one more season...:thumb:
