Abso-posi-lutely!!!! The Cats defense can actually stop more teams than before Brown took over. I think he has done an excellent job. He plays a more aggressive style than Archer which works more often than it fails. I hope Brooks doesn't leave just yet (ONE MORE YEAR COACH!!), ... but if he does, I hope that Brown stays.

I have heard many of these same things. I see Chuck Smith staying at Kentucky.

I still say Coach Brooks will be back.

 

I hope coach Smith stays as well... he is a great recruiter and a real asset to the team. However, if he is going to make a run as a head coach, the clock is ticking...

 

Brooks is good for Kentucky and great for the players on the team... let's hope he stays at least one more year and makes some minor coaching changes before handing the reins over to Joker.

I disagree.

 

Archer was very aggressive and Kentucky usually had a good t/o rate because they took so many chances. However, they were often burned big time and gave up A LOT of yards.

 

I like aggressive defenses, but we didn't have the right personel to run it with Archer. Additionally, his defense is sucking it up at NC State right now.

 

I think Brown is a good d-coordinator. I think they need to work on a few things and bring in a few more athletes.

I just don't agree. UK can win big games, they have proven that. But I don't think I will ever see in my life time UK on top of the SEC competing for national titles.

 

If you concede this point, then the only issue UK football has is consistency. I think we can get there with the right leadership and some time.

There is a disconnect between Joker Phillips and Steve Brown. Some of it has to do with recruiting.

 

Joker is really high on David Lockwood who succeeded Chris Thurman as defensive back coach and is now at West Virginia.

 

If Coach Brooks does retire (I don't think so), I do not see Steve Brown on the Kentucky staff.

The way coach Brown looked at the hotel and at the game Sunday evening... I wouldn't be surprised to see him step down. Looks like he is fighting one heck of a hip problem. I wish him well whatever his decision should be...

That is Chris Thurman, the defensive back coach. He is scheduled for hip replacement surgery in January. It has been very painful to watch him walk out on the field before the games some five minutes before every other coach so that he had time to limp to the sideline. I can imagine how he feels.

 

I wish Coach Thurman a very successful surgery.

Should UK go after Leach now?????????

^No thanks. I like Leach, I just don't want him coaching at my schools. I think his style of offense is always going to get shut completely down at least 2 or 3 times a year, no matter who he has playing for him. At UK it would be tough to go bowling now with such as pass heavy offense at UK. And I think the SEC coaches would have a field day with the Air Raid today. A pass happy offense in a league that breeds alot of starting NFL defenders is not the way to go for UK IMO.

The man and his staff had the #24 recruiting class in the country coming to Lubbock, TX! 6 4-star recruits (including a QB from Texas, WR from Florida, and a RB from Oklahoma) and 19 3-star recruits had committed to TTU.

 

I would love to see him in Lexington again. Could you imagine if Couch and company's teams had actually worked more on special teams and defense too?

Well I cheer for both. I have always loved UK, but I've been a longtime Miami Hurricanes as well. I would choose UK BBall and Miami football as my two favorite sports teams, but I love UK football as well.:thumb: I don't support Miami basketball, so that's why I picked a name with UK in it.:lol:

Good argument, I just don't think that's the route you want to go with in the SEC. Teams are too good for a team to only throw the ball with little emphasis on running the ball and defense. Leach is a good, if not great coach, but I don't see him as the kind of guy that can help UK take that next step. Texas Tech is somewhat of an afterthought in Texas recruiting, but they still have a better shot at grabbing quality talent than UK because of the amount of talent in Texas. JMO.

Yeah I'm the same way I'd say Texas football and UK basketball are my two favorites. I don't follow Texas basketball. I want UK football to do good and I cheer for them but I would'nt say I'm die hard at all.

I'm pretty diehard about the U football and UK BBall/Basketball. I like Miami football the best though I must admit.
