December 11, 200916 yr You work through your contract. That's what happens when you write your name on that line. Good luck hiring people and locking them in to a contract. You would've never had BK. Look, it's frustrating. I wanted BK to stay too. But, I also realize a coach isn't going to be foolishly loyal. He's taking care of himself, as he should.

December 11, 200916 yr For the most part NCAA basketball does not have all of this stuff with schools talking with other coaches while they are still in their season like what happens in NCAA football. If anyone heard what Cronin said today this is what he said. I think it is terrible for the kids.
December 11, 200916 yr I wonder if the people complaining about Brian Kelly leaving UC and not being loyal complained when UC hired him away from Central Michigan?

If anyone heard what Cronin said today this is what he said. I think it is terrible for the kids. You do realize that there isn't a month long break between the end of the regular season and postseason in college basketball right?

December 11, 200916 yr Once again you're using a double standard. You say it's ok to be fired for poor job performance but not take a promotion? That makes zero sense. He isn't saying that he shouldn't leave, #5 is saying that he should finish out the season and coach his team in the Sugar Bowl and fulfill his obligation to the 2009-2010 season with the University of Cincinnati. An idea that I fully agree with.
December 11, 200916 yr You work through your contract. That's what happens when you write your name on that line. So they can fire you if you perform poorly, but if you do great you can't leave for a better job? Sounds logical.
December 11, 200916 yr So they can fire you if you perform poorly, but if you do great you can't leave for a better job? Sounds logical. Yea but if you get fired you still get paid. . The school still fulfills their end of the contract if they terminate it.
December 11, 200916 yr All I am going to say is that I dislike when coaches, most recently Brian Kelly, say they are not going to leave to do just that a few days later. Yes, BK deserves respect from all for he resurrected UC's football program and decided to take his "dream job." But shouldn't the student-athletes get the coach's respect as well? Mardy Gilyard and Ben Guidugli are two players who voiced their opinions about the situation and I would tend to agree with them both: Gilyard said "I'm fairly disgusted with the situation, that they let it last this long." Guidugli said "It's like somebody turned their back on us. We brought this whole thing this far. We've come this far. To have someone walk out now is disappointing." December 11, 200916 yr Yea but if you get fired you still get paid. . The school still fulfills their end of the contract if they terminate it. And UC will get paid for him leaving early too.

December 11, 200916 yr This is my concern that GT and I were talking about the other night... UC is building all these really nice faciliies in care of BK. Really hope Jones comes in and doesn't skip a beat.
December 11, 200916 yr Author I wonder if the people complaining about Brian Kelly leaving UC and not being loyal complained when UC hired him away from Central Michigan? To be honest I wasn't paying much attention I am a OSU fan. It's something I've thought about a long time though and with this hitting close to home it was a great time to bring it up.

Really hope Jones comes in and doesn't skip a beat. All those nice facilities being built should attract good coaches and quality athletes for years to come.
