Being loyal?

Brian Kelly isn't the only one, but UC signs you to a new contract and puts all these plans in place to accomidate what you would like to have and you up and leave? Also, one thing grandpa taught me at a young age is you finish what you've started no matter what. Is he really selling out on those guys that have busted their butt for him all year and not even coaching the bowl game? Notre Dame doesn't even have one for him to coach. Be a man and stick with your boys!

On the same not the NCAA needs to figure something out. It wasn't fair to UC, Florida, Stanford, or UCONN to be trying to work toward this bowl game and not knowing if they are going to have a coach tomorrow. Somehow you need to work out where no one interviews a coach in bowl contention until the bowl is over. Also, I think in all sports coaches should be required to fulfill their contracts. It's just like any other contract. You sign it and you fulfill it. What a joke.

Good job to Notre Dame though. You've finally landed a coach!

I see what you are saying. But, coaches have to think for themselves today, whenever they have a job and a better pay day they should take it IMO. Sure BK had some love now, but if UC fell of the map for 2 or 3 years his job wouldn't be as guaranteed. Schools are loyal to coaches, such as Tuberville and Auburn, so coaches have to take advantage if they get a good opportunity.

Maybe their is a better way to do it than BK has done, but at the same time keeping things under wraps allowed for the players to concentrate and earn something that really helps UC football. UC is a better job today then when he started.

Coaches have to get fired and hired now for the most part. It would put a team too much behind the 8 ball recruiting if they weren't allowed to make a change or talk to other coaches before the end of bowl season.

As for coaches honoring their contracts I think they have to be able to go on to better opportunities if they are available. Most of us would leave our jobs if we could have a dream job with great pay. JMO, but I do understand your frustration with the situation.:thumb:

I'm with you 5, but that's the nature of the beast nowadays. The biggest disappointment is that UC has met all BK's requirements, including the money they're putting out for a practice facility, that they really cannot afford.

The NCAA could help tame these ordeals by pushing back the national signing day by a month or two. There's no need to have it done at the beginning of February.

Do you get this worked up with a coach is fired?

Coaches don't owe anyone anything, providing they do what Kelly did. He completely changed UC football and if he feels a better job is available, so be it.

I can't stand when fans think a coach OWES them something. If they leave the program in worse shape than it's in, that's one thing. However, BK didn't. He may actually have a chance of turning me into an ND fan...although it's a very small chance.

No. That's how the world works you do your job or you get fired.

Or you leave when a better job comes available because you're good at it......

Not be there to coach his team for arguably the most signifcant bowl game in UC history is shameful IMO....but maybe UC wanted it that way as well?

Or you leave when a better job comes available because you're good at it......

So if another company came along and offered you two or three times the money you are making at your current job you would stay at your current job? Kudos to you for your extreme loyalty.

You work through your contract. That's what happens when you write your name on that line.

Once again you're using a double standard. You say it's ok to be fired for poor job performance but not take a promotion? That makes zero sense.

:thumb: It has nothing to do with Kelly not being loyal. It has to do with Kelly using his brain.
