December 7, 200916 yr Just saw this on twitter, said Kelley will probably be interviewing in NYC tomorrow.
December 7, 200916 yr He said in his Dan Patrick interview that he would know for sure one way or the other by Saturday. I think he goes.

That's been my guess for a month or so now, every since it was evident that Weis was a goner. It just seems like a good fit. Not good for UC or the Big East. The Big East has to start retaining some of these good coaches as some point. I'd say UC will soon be the home of another CMU Head Coach.

December 7, 200916 yr The way BK was speaking a few weeks ago just gave me a bad hunch.... the fact they got him in for an interview could be a fly in the trap.
December 7, 200916 yr Bye Bye BK! Thanks for all you did for this area. For the record I do not think he has the same success their as he did in Cincinnati.
December 7, 200916 yr He said in his Dan Patrick interview that he would know for sure one way or the other by Saturday. I think he goes. And it kinda sounds like he won't be coaching UC in the Sugar Bowl either.
December 7, 200916 yr I'm not convinced he'll leave, because I'm not convinced that his situation at UC isn't potentially better. He's in potentially the same situation as Petrino at Louisville a few years ago...back-to-back BCS titles and he's made a serious run at a championship. He's made UC an attractive destination, and he's at a place, in a conference, where he could have a great shot at being a BCS regular. At ND, he'll be battling insanse expectations and recruiting restrictions. A bad mixture. I certainly understand the appeal...their tradition and fan base is second-to-none. To be the guy who restored the glory would be a nice feather in the cap to say the least. Assuming they offer him the job, he'll probably take it. But, I wouldn't say its a done deal at this point. If he does take the job, will he leave immediately, or coach the Bearcats in their bowl game?
December 7, 200916 yr And it kinda sounds like he won't be coaching UC in the Sugar Bowl either. He shouldn't, IMO. If you take a job to coach elsewhere, you don't need to be coaching your old team anymore. That generally hasn't turned out well.

I heard the interview and he would not guarantee that he would coach the Sugar Bowl, but he also indicated he turned down a major(BCS) program last year, so who knows. My question is was this the Tennessee job he turned down last year?
December 7, 200916 yr I heard he had turned down a 5 year, $15 million offer from Washington. I think BK sealed the deal with Saturday's win. He's exactly what ND needs; good coach, great with boosters, can sell his vision to anyone or any player, graduates kids, has won immediately with every program, and his players have stayed out of trouble. I think Kerry Coombs will get coach his first game (of many) at UC in the Sugar Bowl. I'm guessing UC is tired of coaches using UC as a stepping stone to bigger opportunities. As a local, Coombs would consider this his destination, dream job.
December 7, 200916 yr I do not see Combs being the interum coach. The thing is I wonder how much of the staff he is going to take with him. Much of that staff has been with BK for a while. The other thing (this being a long shot) if Combs were to take over the program does he bring in the flexbone.
