Cincy is the new UL. I don't think many coaches think of it as a destination job. That's what UL AD wanted when they hired Kragthorpe, they wanted someone who would stay at that job for a long time, and it's not going to happen. Cincy would be smart to continue to try to hire up and comers and just have to deal with them leaving. Similar to what Xavier does in basketball.

I agree, I hope Jurich realizes that fundamental mistake and does the same at UofL (as you mentioned above) from now on.

All signs are starting to point to him leaving. ND has been turned down by the 4 or 5 people they had ahead of him on the wish list, and he has been posturing for the job since the Pitt game ended. If ND extends an offer after the interview I am pretty sure at this point that he takes it.

 

I think Butch Jones is the likely replacement, but there are a few other names out there they have their eye on. If an interim coach takes over for the Sugar Bowl it will be Jeff Quinn not Coombs. Kerry is simply not ready to take over at this level yet, but I would expect him to be offered the DC spot on a new staff as long as the transition is a smooth one...

It stinks for UC, BK was building a great program, but that's when you know your program is on the rise-coaches leave for Notre Dame. Notre Dame will be making the right hire, and I think if UC can get Butch Jones, they will be just fine.

I pretty much agree. If money is the sole thing he's after then goodbye and I didn't want that kind of guy in town anyway. If he wants to win football games stay at UC. He's setting himself up for a Chuck Weis moment at ND.

I haven't yet heard a number on what ND would offer, but I know UC is offering somewhere between 2.1 and 2.5 (likely closer to 2.1). I'd say the Cal analogy is pretty spot on...

Not sure UC is a better setup. UC loses vs. Pitt and they are out of the BCS games. NOtre Dame would have lost that game and they are still in a BCS game.

I know its Notre Dame but this is not the job it was even 10 years ago. I think the Fighting Irish has lost alot of credibility because it doesn't play for a conference championship every year.

I would love for him to go to ND, but I have enjoyed watching him turn UC into a winning machine.
