Other teams play to win the division in there conference or there conference championship and then get rewarded with a bowl. If I'm the coach, I like my chances when I'm from the SEC or Big Ten and I just followed the coaches at Notre Dame into a young mans living room. I'll take those odds with that recruit everyday. Then you are playing with 50 percent odds and probably less actually. I mean Notre Dame has had some of the best classes the last few years, even though they really haven't had a winning product on the field. Yet top players have still been wanting to come here. So obviously your odds then wouldn't have been that good. Your right Notre Dame doesn't play in a conference. What Notre Dame offers is a chance for players to get showcased across the nation throughout the year. Notre Dame offers good acedimics which parents would like, and would use to probably try to get their kid to go there. They offer some of the best facilities in the nation, and one of the biggest followings across the Nation. They offer the kids a chance to a part of the group that gets Notre Dame back to the elite, and so this way those kids would always be remembered for turning Notre Dame back around. Notre Dame if they have BK, would be offering kids a chance to play in a system that most kids like to play in these days in the spread offense. Notre Dame offers a better chance than most teams at making a BCS Bowl than others, because even two losses on the year for Notre Dame almost automatically means you will see them in a BCS game. While for other programs two losses would keep you out usually. Notre Dame offers you a chance to play for the title, because if you go undefeated at Notre Dame or even just one lost. There is a good chance Notre Dame is in the title game then. So hmmm I would take those odds with recruits every day of the week over almost every single school in the Nation.
