I can't believe this poll in comparison to last weeks Mayfield/Beechwood poll. All year long, LCAs been the #1 ranked team and prohibitive favorite to win it all and Mayfield has a 56% to 44% majority of the votes. Last week, Beechwood, who's been ranked behind Mayfield all year had a 61% to 39% majority of the vote. What's up with that?

We have the Beechwood crowd. Maybe they will be right this time.

When I joined BGPreps several months ago, I did so because, from the very beginning this Cardinal team reminded me of past Mayfield state championship teams. Not so much X's and O's, but the way they have come out focused, disciplined and prepared to take care of business night in and night out. Sure, some of it's senior leadership, but a lot of it is playing together as a team. Mayfield has the talent every year, which may fluctuate some from season to season, but for 1A football it's VERY good. While players come and go, I hope the current group of coaches stick together for a long time. It's obvious they are teaching the underclassmen solid fundamentals as many are making a big impact in this title run. If the team concept continues in the future, so will the trips to STATE.

Beating Beechwood gets you that much more respect!

 

Seriously though, there are a lot of posters on here in N. Ky. and I am sure they are impressed with how Mayfield handled Beechwood. So all the N. Ky. posters will shift the poll. And you have to remember, the polls on here are not scientific at all. So they are always going to be shaped by how many posters are from a certain area, etc.

Had a protective boot and crutches by doctor today...missed practice again today - but no fractures - severe sprain - plus he has turf toe issue as well...goes back to doctor Thursday - but he's a senior and tuff kid - so i doubt he would miss the game unless doctor prevents it...know more Thursday.

this is not a good thing but Collins will be decent backup - just young (SOPH) - but he is getting reps in practice and is doing fine - just not a Dominique - but who is?

I also have no doubt that #30 will be in the backfield for LCA...and the Mayfield coaches and players are all preparing for Hayden to play Saturday...would be like Murrell for us not playing...that kid would have to be on his death bed to not play this weekend as I am sure it is the same way for the Hayden kid

I want to WIN or LOSE against LCA with him in the backfield...how unfair to be injured for the biggest game of your life...hoping for a quick recovery for Hayden!
