Talked to him last night after the game. Nice guy and nothing but complimentary of Highlands.

I was very impresesd with the Highlands team. I knew they were talented-but they are much faster in person than on film. I don't see anyone giving them a game in the State finals. I also would like to say that the people at Higlands are a class act. I talked to Coach Mueller before the game and it was a nice conversation. I also got to meet a few of the Bluegrassprep Highlands fans and they were very nice. I came away with a different outlook on Highlands. The players are well coached on both sides of the ball and did their job with no trash talking. Class program!:thumb:

I guess I didn't ask the question very well. Someone actually heard the Pulaski coach say this? I thought there was just an assumption that he was doing that.

My father and I did.

He won the (old) 4A title with Nelson County in 1996, beating Chris Redman and Male enroute. Nearly had them in again in 1997 and again in 2000. Left to coach a start-up program at John Hardin in I want to say 2004 season. In 2006, in the regional title game against Trinity (or was it St. X?), he decided to go for 2 to win the game rather than kick an XP to tie on the final play of the game, and the receiver dropped the pass.

 

He has one of the top overall records in the state the past 4 or 5 seasons, but has had trouble getting past Bowling Green in the semis. Now he has.

 

In '97, Brown's Nelson County team lost to St. X in the Semi's. And, I'm almost positive that he left to take over John Hardin in 2001. The '01 season was John Hardin's first season. In 2006, John Hardin lost to St. X and the last two years they have been beaten out by Bowling Green and Christian County.

 

Hearsay, I'm with you on this one. To use the old saying, Highlands better not put the carriage before the horse, if so, they could be in for a serious dogfight. John Hardin's athletic ability will be as good as Highlands has faced all year long, with the exception of Cincy St. X. John Hardin isn't just athletic, they are extremely well coached.

 

I saw them this past friday at Bowling Green and they jumped out on Bowling Green 21-7 before you could blink. I dont care how good a team like Highlands is, you have to be good to go beat Bowling Green @ Bowling Green in the state-semifinals; and John Hardin is just that. Dang good. Just ask Male, St. X, Christian County and Bowling Green. All are teams that John Hardin has either beaten or played very close in match ups dating back to 2005.

 

This will be a dang good ballgame in my opinion.

As for Highlands, nothing but class. Plain and simple. It is a program EVERY program should strive to be. Best of luck to the Bluebirds this weekend.

Thanks Maroon Fan (and 1st and Goal also) for the nice comments about our program. Our kids just line up each play and play football. Little if any trash talking. No intentional late or dirty hits. As Mueller says, "just play football". I want to compliment the PC coaches and players also. They played the same way. They were outgunned in this game, but kept it clean. Sometimes kids, when getting beat badly in big games, can become frustrated and let their emotions get out of control. I didn't see that happen with the PC folks.

 

Good to talk to Coach Sharpe and 1st and Goal after the game. Good people. Best of luck next year. Hopefully we can make it far enough to come to PC next year.

I have to work in Pulaski and hear all of the arrogance that comes from a lot of fans and act like everyone owes you. So yes I put up with it on a daily basis and get sick of it. At least Highland fans got a taste of it too. I am sure Highlands fans are class acts too. At least they know how to act like they have been there before. Good luck win the state. I will go back to work and hear how good PC is supposed to be next year and how they deserve to be ranked in the state.

Good thing is your team gets the chance to shut everyone up. All you have to do is make the trip over here in 2010 and beat Pulaski. Should be real easy as you say it. And, yes Pulaski will be loaded again in 2010. Why wouldn't people, in our own home town none the less, talk up OUR hometown football team? You talk up yours. What's the difference?

You should try working around here with the fans from dozens of area schools. Especially when it is your team wearing the bullseye every year.

For those interested, Eastham had x-rays done, nothing broken or torn, just sprained. Should be ready to start basketball in about 2 weeks. Good news for this young man.
