It goes pretty much unnoticed as it very rarely happens BUT I'd like to give a shout out to SR. David Hogue for the great job he has done punting the ball this year!! He had another fine one last night inside the 10, I believe.

 

The O and D are improved since the beginning of the season but the biggest improvements have been made on special teams. At the start of the season teams were getting long kickoff returns.......not anymore!!! Great job by players and coaches,once again!!!! Go Birds!!!!

I was sitting with a nice gentlemen who coached Dale. We both agreed Dale is the best in the business at making adjustments and the 2nd half will be different.

 

You all played creative power football with fake gives. JC has something to build on. Especially if they increase speed work outs in the off season.

Awsome win for the Birds. JC is quite impressive at their running attack. I understand they are young and only lose a few key guys. Towles is doing great and he will be one of the best ever before he is finished at HHS. He really had to be focused and showed some quick reflexes handling the snaps from center. Before the game, we had a JC fan guarantee us, in no uncertain terms, that they would put up 400 yards rushing on us.

Yeah it does, but I know it's a big if that if Matney would of coached that game to win with about 3 minutes left in the 3rd to the end of the game instead of playing conservative football by keeping the clock running, Highlands would of scored in the 50's. There is no doubt in my mind that would of happened...You can't tell me that he knew what HHS was capable of doing it with the quick strike offense. I'm sure he had a little 1998 Semi final matchup between HHS and Sheldon Clark on his mind, when he thought he was in the game and then HHS scored 28 points in about 8 minutes. I commend him for making it respectful by knowing when you are beat and lets just get out of here and try again next year.I not saying he quit but he knew this game was over when JC turned the ball over inside the 20 very early in the 3rd quarter. I for one knew JC would move the ball and would score some points and rack up some ungodly yards, but I also knew it would take JC 6 or 7 minutes each time to score a TD against a team like HHS. They played great ball control against HHS in the 2nd half to keep HHS off the field. Never played to win in the final 21 minutes....IMO
