The official said his partner holding the clip didn't have it set correctly. So when they reset the chain and the official move the ball they gave Bellevue a first down. Now the local cable crew showed me on video that they were still short. But this game wasn't decided by this one play. This was decided with FHS turning over 5 times.

 

Had they scored instead of fumble in the second quarter the game would have been 21-7, might have been a different game. (But IF was a fifth then everyday would be a intoxicating)

The people of FHS have to decide if they are ready to buy into what the football is trying to accomplish. It starts at home with parents and all the way down to the bus driver. Everyone has to be on the same page and willing to do what it takes to get to a state title. When you constantly have kids that are not making grades it kills a small class A team. You can't wait until Friday to decide to to turn you work in. Parents have to play a bigger role in helping kids. The teachers at FHS have to play a bigger role. Instead of looking down on athletes they need to think of ways to reach them and inspire them to learn. Folks in the community need to take a bigger role and come by and help a kid with school. Also come by and see how they can help make the program better. (stripe field, rake leaves, clean the weight room, help recondition the equipment)

 

What FHS don't need is after a classic football battle have parents on the fence second guessing the coaches after the choose to onside a kick. Or going for it on 4th down. FHS don't need so called fans dogging coaches because they think they should pass more. Or they should play better pass defense. That becomes a cancer in programs.

 

Now the coaches will work hard this offseason to become better coaches. They will be working hard to think of ways to better teach kids the game of football and well as the game of life. FHS coaches are not perfect nor will they ever be, but they will do is go to work this offseason and try to become better coaches.

 

It just can't be coaches trying to build a program. There has to be total buy in. Until then FHS will always walk off the field saying " What IF"

Here's a suggestion from the outside looking in, coach. You aren't allowed to stand on the "sideline" (fans area) unless you put in some volunteer hours to help the program. Make those in the peanut gallery earn their right to second guess. I say this a little tongue in cheek of course. But it always seems like those who complain the loudest are never to be found or willing to step up when the program needs support.

 

Frankfort has everything in place to be a state champ program but everyone has to put in the extra effort and focus it takes to make that happen. You know what you are doing now is good enough to win district titles and advance 2 or 3 rounds in the playoffs. The question is what MORE can everyone do to get to that state championship. It takes extra effort and work to get there. Sorry if I am a little out of line in preaching from afar, but I have a lot of respect for Frankfort and I would love to see the program take that next step. It will only happen with hard work on the field, off the field, in the classroom and in the homes of everyone associated with the program. Congrats on all that Frankfort overcame this year and a very nice season. Good luck on putting in the effort to be better!

What a great game by both schools! Bellevue came out in the 2nd half like a team possessed and Frankfort came out just worn down.

 

It's unfortunate that Frankfort had another kid ejected for the 2nd straight week! Very undisciplined as a team.

Sounds like the excuses are coming all ready! Just take the loss and move on. Don't start blaming the fans and kids now that the season is over. All we heard all season is how this kid is injured and this other kid is injured. Now, once you get beat in the playoffs, now the blame goes from the injuries and too the parents and kids not turning in homework. Sounds to me like the coaches cant win when needed. Stop complaining.

I don't think he was making excuses. I think he is just stating where the program is, and where it needs help in getting to the next level. Try not to be so harsh. It is tough after the last game (and a loss). Coach Buckett is just passionate about his program. :thumb:

The second to last regular season game against Beechwood he carried it 37 times. In the season finale against Lloyd it was 49. I am not sure of last week, but may be 27. Now 50 tonight,wow. They got him, or he got, the records but at what cost? Can a young athlete who hardly ever leaves, if ever, the field keep this going?

This is such a disservice to Coach Buckett and what he is trying to do. He's not making excuses for losing. He's saying what needs to happen to move on to the next level. He never made excuses when his players were injured either, simply stated the facts that they WERE injured.

 

It's obvious that Coach B and the rest of the coaching staff have the best interests (not just those on the field) of the young men at heart. They also know what needs to happen in order to keep moving the program in the right direction.

 

Coach B is trying to inspire, as he often does. If a kid was academically ineligible, they certainly aren't doing their first job as a student. If they aren't turning in work, whose fault is that? If parents are spending all of their time complaining and "coaching" from the sidelines, then they aren't building the program either.

 

Coach Buckett, you are a class act and I commend you for what you are trying to make a district championship team a regional championship team...and to make your kids better people. :thumb:
