November 7, 200916 yr Newton looked good day, throwing for 2 TD passes. Fresham RB Donald Russell with a 79 yard TD late in the game.
November 7, 200916 yr This was a much needed and good win today, now lets hope UK will get their playmakers back in Locke and Cobb and go down to Vandy and pick up that important 6th win.GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 8, 200916 yr No Locke, no Cobb but maybe having an off week will be good for both of them. Solid, workmanlike win. Nothing fancy. They could have just run the ball all day long, but this was a good game to give Newton some more throws. He is progressing nicely. 2 TDs has to be good for his confidence. Loved to see freshman Donald Russell break that big run. That hole was big enough to drive a mac truck through. Cats did what most expected them to do.
November 8, 200916 yr If nothing else it was a big confidence boost for Newton. He has to learn to throw the ball more down field but other than that I'm happy with the performance. Also, on a side note, but I was discussing this with another gentlemen and we were both wondering why Joker doesn't EVER run any slant routes? I don't think I saw one all day and all season for that matter...
November 8, 200916 yr Great to see some new numbers get some playing time... a great day in Lexington! #44 you rock son!
November 8, 200916 yr UK still needs to get more production out of the TE in this offense. I would like to have seen a few more QB draws with Newton. Solid effort by the Defense. Except for one UK had a lot better results in the kick offs. I know UK had a back up holder, but Lones is still terrible. Good win though. Gotta go get a win at Vandy.
November 8, 200916 yr Man, after watching this and the U of L game, it's sad how bad both teams are.....they both are horrible.
November 8, 200916 yr Man, after watching this and the U of L game, it's sad how bad both teams are.....they both are horrible. You're talking about EKU and UofL right? Not sure how you'd watch this and think UK is horrible. Especially considering Locke and Cobb both sat.
November 8, 200916 yr You're talking about EKU and UofL right? Not sure how you'd watch this and think UK is horrible. Especially considering Locke and Cobb both sat. They are a junk team brother. I understand you thinking they are better than what they are, but I am calling a spade a spade. They are awful.
November 8, 200916 yr They are a junk team brother. I understand you thinking they are better than what they are, but I am calling a spade a spade. They are awful. Then where does that put UofL? I know UK isn't great, but I think you have sour grapes because UofL is soooo terrible. I'm calling terrible, terrible. :isurrender:
November 8, 200916 yr They are a junk team brother. I understand you thinking they are better than what they are, but I am calling a spade a spade. They are awful. And what exactly about the EKU game led you to that conclusion?
November 8, 200916 yr Then where does that put UofL? I know UK isn't great, but I think you have sour grapes because UofL is soooo terrible. I'm calling terrible, terrible. :isurrender: I think Rockmom did say that U of L is terrible. Also I am as big as UK fan as there is and it is hard to watch this team play. Someone said they didn't understand how one could watch this game and say that UK was terrible; it is easy to make this comment, they were playing EKU. Newton lived off the 5 yard hitch pass simply because the EKU cornerbacks were playing 7 yards off UK receivers. Without Cobb this team is hopeless, and only he can do so much. I do think Newton is a better QB than Hartline and will be a nice QB in a couple of years, but as far as this years UK football team goes, they are terrible just as Rockmom said.
