Don't forget Highlands beat Moeller in 7 on 7. :D

As did Cov Cath. But I doubt they would beat either in a regulation game.

Why would you say that? Highlands handled St. X from the start to the finish of the game and the score was not even indicative of how well they handled them. St. X took care of Big Mo last night so why do you think Highlands wouldnt beat MO. Curious.

Where are you at Cardinals fan?????:clap:

I can't think of any other poster on BGP this football season who has been so adamant in his postings and yet so emphatically wrong as CF. If he can not give the 2009 Highlands team their due respect after this, he loses what little shred of credibility he may have left.

There is little doubt that Cincinnati football as a whole is ahead of N. Ky. but there is just as little doubt that THIS Highlands team is as good if not better than any of those teams in Cincinnati THIS year.

I never heard that..

Man do you have my house wire tapped.....LOL!!!!! This is exactly what I was thinking.

Maybe he has your mind tapped! scarey thought.

My point is that I doubt Cov Cath would beat St X or Moe in a regulation game even though they beat Moe in 7 on 7. The 7 on 7 is not necessarily an indicator of how the regular game would go.

Did anybody watch the game? I thought this thread would be about the game rather than some title that really isn't nothing more than a pride reward. Congrats on a great season Highlands, beating the teams the Birds have beat this year, this team should definately get a top notch ranking within the great Highlands football program history.

Now on to the game.......

I like the way both teams play Defense. Marcus Rush is a man on D-Line for Moeller. Moeller's overall defense I thought played very well. According to the GCL website Moeller only gave up 2.6 yards a carry. Running the ball and stopping the run has been the strength for Moeller on both sides of the ball all year. There were times when Moeller's running game took off but the drive stalled.

But in the end, Moeller made too many mistakes (fumbled punt return and an interception thrown by Hendrix) to beat a team like St. X. in a game of that magnitude.

I will also give St. X their due also. Conor Hundley just kept the ball moving and Massa made the inportant throws when he had to. It is safe to say that St. X won the field position battle last night and when good defensive football teams meet, that is the main factor.

Congrats to Moeller on a 9-1 season. Keep plugging away Coach Rodenburg, You have made many Moeller Alum very happy. Now just make those plays in the playoffs and keep working to get Moeller that next state title.

Congrats to St. X on their GCL South Title and the #1 seed.

Good Luck to both (if they make the satet title game, they should) when they see Cleveland St. Ignatius.

I've been keeping track of Cardinals fan. First he was on the Colerain bandwagon, then they lost. Then he was on the St. X bandwagon, then they lost. Then he was on the Elder bandwagon, the they lost. Then he was on the Moeller bandwagon and they lost, does anybody see a pattern here? Cardinals fan, please don't get on the Highlands bandwagon or predict a Highlands win. :D At the beginning of the season, people predicted that this Highlands team was very special, and I think that those people were absolutely correct!!!!! :thumb:

So Highlands is the GCL champ because they beat one team in the league? That would be like saying Western Kentucky was the Big East basketball champion last year because they beat Louisville.

Shouldn't Highlands have to play a few more teams in the league first?

Jason Jason Jason! Where did he say they were GCL champs? That's what I thought. You can ask any person in Ft. Thomas or any supporter and they will tell you they don't think HHS can compete in the GCL year in and year out. Numbers are just not there.

They are competitive in most but are not going to win all. HHS beat St. X this year. They didn't play the others or even Colerain. HHS fans will tell you that HHS would have a chance at all teams in the GCL this year. What would make anybody think differently. I would of loved to see HHS play any GCL last year but instaed opted for Colerain. HHS can only schedule one or two out of state teams a year.

So with that said, HHS claims the "Mythical Greater Cincinnati Champs". Argue that one!

That's like saying the Super Bowl champion should have to personally defeat every team in the league.

No, it's not. It's saying that the Super Bowl champion has to beat more than just one team to be declared the champ. They have to beat at least two other teams in the playoffs. I understand Highlands' fans being excited about this, but do you truly believe that Highlands would have beaten, Elder and Moeller along w/ St. X w/out Bardo? or having to play at least one of them on the road? They may very well have, but to assume that they would and declare a team the best after one game is pretty tough to do objectively.

This simply doesn't make sense. If this were a playoff situation, if you beat the champion from the other bracket, are you not considered the champion over all those teams they defeated?

You guys are getting way too worked up over this; we're just trying to make a point. You can try to tear it down all you like, but the point is made and remains true.

Who was no 19 for St X? He came up big time after time. Look forward to watching Rush on Saturdays, he's a joy to watch.

I used to agree with this statement, but I'm not sure I do anymore. What Highlands has accomplished over the last decade is almost beyond impressive. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if they win state this year, it will be 8 state championships in 16 years for Dale. For the mathematically challenged, that's a state championship every other year!

Would they win the GCL championship every year? No, but no school wins that championship every year. It's bounced around quite a bit between St. X & Elder, and now Moeller is back in the mix. You can point out all the previous losses to GCL teams (as the paper does every year they play a GCL team), but playing GCL teams week in, week out most likely would only help to increase their overall level of play. I may be wrong, but I'm really starting to believe that they could compete year in, year out. I'm not saying win every year, but compete, yes.
